If what you see brings value, sick! If not, alright.
Ok, I recently purchased the Nisi lenses, and I took them to Straton camera, we put them on a projector, and they are saying the 35mm is as sharp as an Arri master prime and probably the sharpest lens they have ever seen. Now, Straton Camera is the largest rental house in the Midwest. Just give you some context about who they are and have been around for 40 years.
Funny you mention the lack of autofocus, I'm starting to become tired of autofocus. And would love to go back to manual focus due to the autofocus lives its own life at this point for me. But lenses with a large focus throw is the only way for me to go back. Sounds like I have to save for some new glass
The owner of northwest camera co suggested it for a number of reasons! - e mount isn't as widely rented for (yet) - future proofing (can upgrade to a different camera body like RED/ARRI and not lose any lens compatability - PL mounting system is rock solid and locks in place. Feels more secure and looks more bad ass lol
Great review! I was curious if there was and vignetting on the 14mm when using the PL to E Octopus adapter? Also, I take it the rear element clears on that adapter?
works perfectly fine! Minor vignetting but nothing super duper noticeable. Honestly love the way the 14mm looks compared to 16-35/batis 18mm and I felt the batis had a lot of vignetting.
People love behind the scenes definitely keep doing more! Bit of drama to start gets your attention haha There's always something going on, on set that keeps you on your toes!
I have this pretty sweet sub $30 plastic viewfinder cover i use on the fx3/fx6. Fits most little screens perfectly, but can be a bit janky to work with since it attatches via two plastic straps. search "Kamerar CVF-1 Collapsible LCD Viewfinder 3X Magnifier for 3.0" and 3.2" and you will find it no problem!
The Athena + Moment Anamorphic combo is probably the closest you can get to the Arri Master Anamorphics without having to sacrifice your first born as a down deposit
It'd be cool if someone reimagined how anamorphic adapters could work, but currently threading adapters is the name of the game. How satisfied are you with the look of that anamorphic adapter?
I'm mixed on it - on one hand, it's pretty dope to have something that is modular and can attach to any lens I have in my kit, but on the other hand I would probably be more stoked to have a dedicated lens in the 50 - 75mm range. Maybe a 2.0x anamorphic. It''s a fun tool to play around with though! And works pretty dang well.
