Hi HG, I would like to swap my Rangers rubber strap for a leather strap. Rubber straps are so uncomfortable. Thing is, I don’t know how I’m going to get the strap off to do this. Is it only possible for jewellers to remove?
It’s crazy how times have changed. Now they’re selling for $400-$450 on the secondary in excellent or like new condition. I’m actually thinking of getting one.
I'm literally seeing higher prices everywhere. Where are you finding them for $400-$450? I sold my old beat up S35VN one for $525 on ebay several months ago.
Damn I’ve been eyeing the formex after falling in love with the AT with strap. It’s a great alternative and I think it looks better. Now I gotta pick a dial lol
Excellent review. You’re the first reviewer I’ve seen actually explain the suspension system. I’m not sure I like the idea of a moving part that could go wrong? Many thanks - subscribed from England, GB.
When I got mine new four or five years ago, when I started on this journey, it was the most I ever paid for a watch. Now it’s one of my least expensive watches, but it gets tons of wrist time because it’s so damn perfect. Accuracy wise, the 6R15is inconsistent, but even on my METAS or COSC movements, I adjust the time every day, so I actually don’t mind its lack of accuracy.
1st My condolences on the loss of your father 2nd Congrats on the 6 figure salary, I am sure it is well deserved I also bought the Tudor Ranger while working IT and also taking a risk to get that coveted 6 figure salary! Great minds?
I have a Rolex on jubilee with fluted bezel and have been wanting something different…I though the Omega Railmaster might scratch the itch so while out window shopping I dropped into a local jeweler, they had a railmaster in stock and got to try it on…it just didn’t do it for me…I noticed they carried Tutor as well and had a Ranger which immediately piqued my interest. I tried it on and instantly knew it was what I had been looking for…while I had no intention of buying a watch that day I couldn’t resist…its low key and flies under the radar yet high quality that will outlast me…it’s been over a month and my Rolex must be getting jealous as I have not worn it with the Ranger getting all the wrist time since…absolutely love it!
We had the same thought! I was initially considering the Railmaster too, but when I tried the Ranger at my local AD, I knew I had to purchase it. It really is a great watch, and I feel like it's going to be a highly sought-after Tudor in the future.
Well first thanks for an in-depth look at your ORIS Divers 65. I bought the same one today, I’m delighted with it, it is a classy dress watch as well. Thanks for your video once again. 👍🏻👍🏻
I appreciate you sharing! The wrist shots from a distance were very helpful (I wish more reviews would do that). One question, does the secondhand hit the indices perfectly? I didn’t know if it was the watch or the camera angle. Thanks!
Interesting comments about the Railmaster. I too have looked at that as a direct competitor to the Ranger, they’re both simple time only, fully brushed, and a used Railmaster can be had for sub $3k, which makes it very compelling. Still, I dig the Ranger. Just wish they used ceramic lume numerals and plots like the Black Bay Pro.
I definitely agree with you about the Rangers numerals. My only real complaint about the watch. Both the Railmaster and Ranger are great watches but the Ranger just fit much better on my wrist and I like the styling just a bit more!
I wear both. I wear my Apple Watch Ultra when I work out and I wear my mechanical watches the rest of the day. Two completely different things. Apple Watch is a computer on your wrist that decreases in value instantly. My mechanical watches are a luxury items that usually maintain or gainvalue Over time.
I think the Tudor Ranger is an OK watch, but it’s massively overpriced given its specs. I think anyone considering the Ranger, do yourself a favour and pick up a brand new Omega Railmaster for $3,000. A significantly & undeniably better watch for a little premium over the Ranger when found on offer.
I've owned both, and personally, I preferred the Ranger over the Railmaster. I sold the Railmaster less than a year after I received it. I think it's because I didn't like the bracelet and how it fit on my wrist. I'd like to see Omega produce thinner, smaller models with more tapered bracelets. Also, I wasn't a fan of the butterfly clasp. But of course, to each their own.
I also own a 2000s Railmaster, and it's one of my favorite watches I've ever owned. With the current Railmaster being discontinued, I hope it returns to its roots, closer to the previous versions.
Yes I have a car channel called Aaron Robin Productions. Jomashop has been awesome. In the past 5 years I bought maybe 20 watches from them. I was between the Railmaster and the Ranger. Both great watches and Jomashop has great prices for both. I've never had any issues with Jomashop and customer service is good. Only thing is you won't get the Omega warranty you would get the Jomashop warranty. Other than that Jomashop is accredit and i would recommend them!
Informative video, really appreciate the positive attitude, showing us the watch up close and afar, and the comparisons to other watches! If you could work in some text for the specs, I think it would take your watch reviews to the next level.
Belated condolences to you and your family. I’ve decided to purchase the tudor ranger hopefully next month. How was your experience when you purchased your ranger at jomashop? I want to save some money too but have no experience purchasing watches besides my ad.
Thank you I appreciate it. Great choice it's been an excellent watch. Jomashop has been phenomenal. I can't say anything about Jomashops warranty because I've never used it but in the last 5 years or so I had to of bought 20+ watches from them plus other items like sunglasses, bags, and cologne. Stock is good and for watches you usually get great deals especially when there's a holiday special. My Tudor Ranger came with warranty from Tudor which was nice. When buying a watch you can call their customer service before hand and give them the item # your looking at and ask if that specific watch come with the manufacturers warranty. I noticed with more experience new watches it usually comes with a dated warranty card.
I had the same experience with the screws on my Ranger’s bracelet, and the AD ended up having to heat them up just to get them out. They seemed to apply a loctite at the factory. I did not encounter this with my Pelagos 39 nor my Black Bay pro bracelets. The Ranger wears most comfortably on my wrist of the three. I wear the BB Pro most often, but if I had to choose just one of my Tudors to keep forever, it would be the Ranger.
I noticed the same thing. With my bb58 I was able to adjust the bracelet myself but the Ranger I wasn't. I've been wearing my bb58 more often recently because it's new, but I have to agree with you I think I would pick the Ranger if I had to pick one to keep forever.
