Now build a Babbage Analytical Enging using Lego... It's bad enough using Brass parts. I tried and gave up.

What software ar you using for simulation/ rendering?
@ozziegerff
@ozziegerff 5 дней назад
No simulation, i do small scale tests in real life On the computer though, just Bricklink's Studio (owned by lego which is crazy), and an older version too. Pretty good experience and very good at rendering, although will be a bit of a pain when dealing with the over 30,000 parts making up the build. Its free and you can access all versions ever released, I'm running an old version 2.1.4 (2) which is pretty stable, but its also 4 years old and missing tons of newer parts.

Damn, as a virtual pinball designer, your knowledge about pinballs shows! I have been super disapointed about the many lego pinballs with no design taken from the real thing other than a vague idea of what it's about.

It's also very fun that my first virtual design was also on Algodoo years ago. I also tried to make a big lego technic pinball some years ago, it's pinned on my reddit if you want, but I figured that Lego just isn't a good option. Solenoids are too important! I switched to Virtual Pinball X now.

Serious question - looks like you’re using valves/air pipe to do a lot of the “data transmission”. Are there pipes long enough/will the pressure drop too much at the 2m scale we’re talking about? What about friction in the other mechanical parts?
@ozziegerff
@ozziegerff 10 дней назад
I plan on using a small air compressor and running the system around 45 psi. Also using larger tubes and widening holes. As far as friction goes, not much friction actually exists in the system when i tested everything. besides, a little oil goes a long way

@@ozziegerff Fair enough - just curious how many people have actually tried to build something of this complexity and scale lol. Good luck on it! This is metal af man
