At Benco institute we teach you everything you need to know about Off Grid power with specialty in small engines(Back up Generators and Solar Systems)
Basically on this platform, we will communicate your everyday small engine and solar system technical needs and give you solutions to them such that you don’t have to panic when you are faced with such issues and we will be doing this by showing you with step by step videos with very simple and easy to understand languages the best practice required to do all this on your own..
please note: Back up Generator system and solar voltages are lethal. Small engines can cause serious injury. Gasoline is explosive and moving parts can cause serious injury. Always use power equipment outside.

Nice and educative video. Please keep them coming. I'll like to chime in that even for systems below 1200W, there's advantage in efficiencies and reduced cable cost if one goes to higher voltage like 48V. This is especially true and easier with lithium batteries. I understand that because of the economic situation, lead acid batteries, especially the tubular batteries are the most popular batteries in Nigeria and most of sub-saharan Africa but this will not continue forever. The Chinese are doubling down on sodium ion batteries which are similar to lithium ion batteries but will be like 40% cheaper and I think they'll displace lead acid batteries and complement lithium batteries. Consequently, calculations like the ones in this video, while correct should include similar calculations for lithium and sodium ion batteries. They'll be similar to the ones done above but you'll need to account for their much higher round trip efficiencies and wider/deeper depths of discharge. Again thanks for putting up the video.
Will this work on a diesel too? I have a 3.5kVA that starts perfectly with electric starter but has always been impossible to pull start - the valves are presently set as per the manual.
@@bencoinstitute Heyhey, you're the man! After you replied I followed your method; it would not ignite using the cord so I used the starter motor to check if it was running ok then re-adjusted the exhaust rocker. After some re-re-adjusting, voila, she started first pull, and no effort. The engine was quite warm, so tomorrow I'll check when it's cold, but I'm sure it will be ok - here in the Philippines it's always warm weather. Thanks for the fast reply and helping out.
Is it advisable to adjust both valves the same way? I didn't move the inlet valve because I didn't want to mess with the amount of injector fuel entering the cylinder (and possibly the carburettor mix on a gas engine?). If you say it's ok then I'll adopt that from now on. Cheers.
Great video...pls can you also do a video on wiring from generator ignition key switch to various components of generator..those wiring in generator usually confuse many people
Thanks... I lowkey needed this knowledge, looking forward to the part 2 Also can you include this in the next part, the kind of generators and generator capacity needed to charge solar batteries
Great video on oil sensor and switch..I bought used Firman eco8990esr but later realized the oil switch is missing while the oil sensor is still intact on the engine. I got a new oil sensor and I have plugged the oil sensor to the oil switch but how do I know the on/off switch wire to pug the oil sensor output wire to?
@@bencoinstitutethe only wires coming from spark plug area are the two wires coming from carburettor. What Is the black wire you're talking about connected to?
Hi from the Philippines - newbie to generator engines. I've got a 6kVA diesel that is due it's first oil change and tappet adjustment and I have hunted high and low for the valve clearances, to no avail. I've seen similar gens that recommend 0.004 to 0.006 inches (0.1 to 0.15mm) - is this a good ballpark figure? I'm curious that you got that engine sounding sweet without using feeler gauges - what's the secret?? I've got a cheap 4kVA gas gen coming this week because it's very quiet and ideal for night time use - we get a lot of outages here - which is why I have subscribed to your channel, there is simply no-one to do repairs where I live, except me. Cheers.
@@bencoinstitute Hehehehehe fair enough. I tried the recoil this morning, sweet as a nut! Actually I re-watched your valve video and you clearly did say you check and adjust both if needed. Thanks again mate.
@@bencoinstitute Wet!! Rainy season just started, so this is it until end of December. January thru end of may is the dry season here, gorgeous sunshine. I think you guys get 2 rainy seasons? Am I right you're in Cameroon?
Very educative and apt! You have said it all. In addition, I won't advise using it for Comercial use. I'm currently testing the senci inverter generator as a second generator, and it has been working perfectly,I rarely use my main generator because of its fuel efficiency and it's really serving me fine . It powers basic home appliances and my inverter refrigerator only. It can power my 1hp inverter generator on gen-mood but I don't use it because as you said, the sound changes and the generator begins to scream. In general, it's been serving me well with no cause to worry.
Thanks for the review. However, do you mean that the rated output on generators are usually not true, and can only deliver only about half of it? Here you said the 4kva will only be about 2.5kva. Is this true for generators generally or that’s just your review for this brand and model?
My dads mechanic will argue that mobil is better than total but one thing i know is that when total turns black it doesnt dirty the engine. It just slides out, it leaves it very clean. It is even himself that biased my mind at one point to start using mobil😂 and since i found that depor it just made it easier
@@bencoinstituteI use heavy duty diesel engine oils in my generator like the shell Rimula R4x 15w40 API CI/ SL and Total Rubia Tir 7400 15w40 API CI/SL. These oils have very good dispersant and detergent properties but I'm tempted to use Castrol GTX 20w50
Thanks for this video. Finally i see someone using mobil 20w50. Someone told me that mobil isnt good for generator but i was telling him that it is a good oil. He said its only for cars and i told him that for the fact it is used for cars means it will do well for your gen. I usually use mobil 20w50 or total quartz5000. I love total. I used it for 4 years in on of my generators and for 4 years it was NEVER opened by any mechanic. I change my oil every 3 wks not 1 month. The gen is still good but has been packed because i installed solar and bought another gen (firman 12990es) so i am doing the same with the big gen. But now i use mobil20w50 because i found a depor where they sell it in bulk and its the original. But i feel like switching back to total quartz5000.. There was even i time earlier when the economy was better i was using synthetic oil but its very expensive. Bro i also think that cleaning the airfilter whenever u want to change the oil is also important. I always do that because oil also circulates to the airfilter. I use kerosene or Disel to do that.
Yeahh That now depends on the owner of the house... This tutorial is basically to give an idea how the Generator needed for operations can be calculated
