how do you legally change the gvwr ? im assuming the truck had a gvwr tag from the factory with the dual axle now with three axles you would want that gvwr tag to go up right ?
Correct, you can go back to the manufacturer and show them everything you have done and have them look over and if needed test the structure and if approved they will give you a new gvwr plate/sticker.
The truck factory is rated for 56k with 40 inch axle spacing. adding the tag axle gives it another 13k capacity, the rest of the weight capacity is from the the trailers axles. 3 axles on the trailer with 40 inch spacing give it capacity for 155000lb depending on which state your in. There all different it’s called bridge law.
You have to take it back to the manufacturer and have it looked over again and a few test to be able to have a new plate put on the truck with the updated specs.
We did it ourselves, we've hauled some pretty big super loads and everything has held up. Check out the site, it shows after paint, stretch and loaded several times. Facebook.com/keepontruckin.us

HI! We are amazed at this video. Your aunt Bonnie's daughter Elizabeth is my student at Midland Trail Elementary. She just showed us all this video and we love it! My son-in-law is headed to Korea this Friday for a year tour. My daughter just had their first baby three months ago. So, we know how you feel! Thank-you so much for serving our country!
