Dammit that broken bolt has me hesitant to crank the heads off my 1988 88SPL. IDK if its *ever* been done, 'least not since I bought it in like '97 :( ran like a champ til late may this year though! Thanks for this video, it's the first & only video/series I've found that applies directly to my power head, which is crazy because weren't these same powerheads common in a billion OMC/Evinrude/Johnson models for like four decades?!
That was as high as it ever got, took this video in a pause in the rain, live radar was very accurate- plus the DOT cleaned the storm drain the week earlier. Very little wind. Lots of lower parts and streets were under water but we were just soggy but fine.
JETHRO ! Git yer Minnesooty head outta that dixie sun ya dingus ! Where da hell are yer long pants and anti snake boots ? Dontcha own one of dem clear flip down safety grinder sheilds ? Geez man ! You need ta spend time up on a Yooper ranch and see how the pro's handle this shit ! Its been horrid up here the last few days........about 82 degree's and 60 % humidity......... way to friggin nasty for anything except drinkin ice cold beer and hideing in da AC ) ( BTW, get a brush cutter blade head and make it three times easier. )
82 and 60 percent? That's September or October here! It was about 88* and humid but overcast, which is the best I can hope for this time of year! Yeah we have some snakes but all I find here are the rat snakes and black snakes which are harmless and beneficial (control rats and mice) I just let it go in June as I was busy then a guy I knew was lookin' for work... until I called and said I had some! Thus it was quit putting it off, knuckle down and do it myself.
@@Jethrosgarage Yeah, ya think good help is hard ta find there ? ....... try livin 8 miles from a town with 6 ..... yes SIX dispensarys with infused pre rolls tested at 48 % THC for only $ 10 bucks !!! You cant hardly find anybody willing to do anything beyond barely showin up for under $ 40 a hour ! Its every old rural bastard for himself at this point !!! LOL Lemme tell ya, full retirement aint for da weak, man ! Im more whipped and beat with this ancient 2 acre Finlander ranch than anything in da last 15 years ! Yall, are entirely welcome to visit anytime........ tons of beer, weed,.........and sheds of work tools and equipment to play around doin buzzed maintenance as you see fit ! Think of it as a workin Yooper dude ranch vacation in northwoods stoner / drunk land !! Should be first frost in 7 weeks ! ( Hopefully )
I use it from time to time as I have a lot of other saws but considering the cylinder looks like hell it still has decent power and compression. Like all my old saws I'm sure it could use fresh crankshaft seals.
the boat is from a 2 piece mold if you need to replace the flotation foam remove the black rub rail then the aluminum trim then you can separate the iner shell from the outer one then you can remove the old foam reassemble use a hole saw cut holes on inner hull add correct type foam when full put the plugs back in place using fiberglass repair kit and paint over this and your done .I was one of the original workers for Truline boats .
@@marksmanmatthew6322 Im glad i could help you .I had no fixd job there I did all the wiring for the first factory I went to all the boat shows as a sales person ,I would take older models and modify them like stretch them and widen them to use as plugs to make new molds for new models I was the truck driver to take the boats to shows and dealer deliveries .I was the one that came up with the name sun runner for the cabin cruiser .which was an older mold for the Bayliner company .The owners of witch i also knew .
Worked out awesome, I didn't have to unload it in my yard and re load it nor cut it up in tiny bits with a chain saw and put it in the trash bin a little at a time! Local transfer station will NOT take fiberglass boats.
I have an over heat issue as well. Changed pump and just got new thermostats which looked like a bomb went off in them completely full of sand like cement I fear this is the next step. Was it relatively straightforward did you sand it down before the new gasket was placed and did you use sealer?
Are you still experiencing issues? As far as sealer, no- I used light emery paper making sure to not stay in one place and create a low spot on both heads and block. My biggest issue was this mill ate salt water most of it's life and I had to deal with a broken off head bolt and getting it out etc. which was WHY I did everything but pull the heads as a last resort.
Dang Jethro ! Yall are right up there with da high school lumberjill's in Hayward ! Has that Poulan got the 14 inch bar like my Poulan has ? I got a dozen dead pines for us to tackle out at my new mini ranch. Im thinkin two 14 inch poulans, couple old grey beard vintage sledders, a case of beer, and one charged cell phone to dial 911........ya know, just in case ! Dont worry......tall ones are maybe 70 footers. How much damage could they do ?
Not good firewood, sort of like burning a wet rotted sponge, I dragged it about 100 ft away with the truck. It's DOT property, could have called them to remove it but would have been 10 calls and a year, I just took care of it myself before it came over my fence.
Should be able to clean up the piston and throw a new ring on it. I’ve got a cour of xxv deluxe basically the same as those but they need to be gone through.
I put a hundred or so trouble free miles on it in seasons since, last year it blew a head gasket when I went to put it in the shed to leave after a trip. Found you need to re torque heads after a heat cycle or two, they really loosened up. Fresh gasket and she's waiting on my trip this winter. It was a $175 machine 17 years ago. :)
That's up at the home property in Minnesota, my local bud rode out from town on that 200, no brakes and holding a foam cup of coffee from the gas station in one hand :) Kinda a crap video but I mainly put it up so he could see it. Near 40 acres of trails deer and firewood.
