Were you able to get a permit from the Moroccan authorities to fly? Did anyone ask you for a permit? I hear that you can apply but it just never get on.
You can do a guided trip with a local guide for a week or so and they will take care of the permits. Then go off on your own later. It is best, at least for the first time there. You don't want to run foul of the law there, you are in someone else's country, show them some love by respecting their laws. Plus, if you get a guide, you will be helping the local flying scene. The guide I had worked very closely with the local Government officials... to be continued.
Hat mir gut gefallen Schon mal ne kleine Inspiration wenn ich Mitte Juli in st. Jakob im Haus bin!!! Danke !! Gibt es bei fiberbrunn was zu beachten ? Muss man sich unten registrieren
Probably one of the most impressive things I’ve seen on this app in a while… however, I’m wondering: how does one calculate a route like that? I’m sure there are meteorological reports about thermals & winds but how do you plan your route with this information? And how accurate can it even be?
Hey Vicky, The thermal forecast for this day was good. Also not a lot of wind. I've flown this exact alpine crossing in the past already so i knew it would work. The route planning is done with the fact that southerly ridges work best on midday. In the morning hills facing east work best, in the evening it's hills facing west. In the end forecast is one thing and reality is another but in this case it worked great:)
Great job, more than 1200 year ago a guy called Abbas Ibn Farnas experimented gliding in this area :). You probably had some of the same views as who probably was the first paraglider ever .
Wing is a Phi Scala Light 18. Takeoff weight 83kg. Weight shift is alright - it's better with a seated harness for sure but I've grown accustomed to it.
