After looking at a program about Carl Nielsen, where also Herbert Blomstedt was intervjued, I have begun to listen a lot more to Nielsens music. With Blomstedt as an enthusiastic mentor, himself here at the age of 96, I have begun to understand a bit of Nielsens universas. This Sinfonie nr 5 gives a good entrace to his musical world I believe... And I admire Maesto Blomstedt for his lifelong commitment about classical music. One can hardly believe that he is still conducting. But he is! The 11 juli 2024 he will be 97.
How wonderful is Stravinsky's Music. Wow! This is an outstanding recording of The Rite of Spring. I know I haven't heard it played any better than this, and the conductor did a fantastic job in making the music come alive. Let me tell you, Stravinsky would have been very very proud of ths performance. Thank you so much for uploading this. All I can say is, I have enjoyed this immensely.
1st movement 0:01 begins | 3:27 flute moment | 2nd movement (Molto Vivace) 8:19 begins | 13:40 moment | 3rd movement (Andante Cantabile) 14:13 begins | 16:39 touching | 26:34 Toy Story moment
I'm overwhelmed by this performance. The silence at the end of the unfinished work shows a great sense of respect and admiration for Brucker's masterpiece: dem lieben Gott.
This is the most articulate, characterful vocal yet. The beauty of tone across the whole range is a given but to masterfully conjure the varied narrative in equal measure is astonishing here. Stunning!
To the haters - please remember this is a beautiful piece of heaven-sent music that lifts both the human spirit as well as the name of Blessed Cecilia. Was Britten a Cristian? Are the singers German or another nationality? These are of no consequence. This music is like incense rising to heaven, pleasing the Creator of art.
Good performance but the camera work is just terrible. Manze is doing a wonderful job of cueing important parts but the camera just going to someone else. For example each time the trombones has low brass have their big counter point, the camera just going to some random other instrument. Otherwise, beautifully played.
Grazie ❤
Thank you very much for the compliment! Unfortunately we do not send any recordings. A CD is not planned yet, but we are happy to take the idea with us.
32:02 front row, behind Herr Wand: former West Germany Chancellor Helmut Schmidt and Loki Schmidt on his right. glad to know they could appreciate a monumental performance of this monumental work
Great. I've never heard the tam-tam linger at the end like that. Sounds a bit strange. It kind of takes the thrill away and prevents any pre-applause bravos, which are always fun.
