what about taxes? is there any problems in importing items like gameboys and games into other countries? iam in japan in september, and want to get a couple of retro gaming stuff for my collection. i want to import to germany
I loved going to BookOff and WonderGOO when I was living in Japan. I would go just about every day after school and could spend hours looking through stuff. By the time I came back home, I ended up having to buy an extra suitcase, leave some old clothes like socks and undershirts behind to make room in my original suitcase, and mail some stuff home XD I ended up being right around 2 pounds under the maximum allowed weight limit for luggage (which was SUPER fun having to get from train stop to train stop going to the airport). The prices were super amazing, especially compared to more recent months. I bought all the copies of Gen 1-2 Pokemon I could find, and was easily finding them for $1-2, even found a few Black/White/Diamond/Pearl for under $5 each. Music CDs were also a straight up steal over there. CDs that would easily be resold at places like anime conventions back in the US for $10-20+ were as cheap as $.10-.50 each in the "junk" section, and often looked brand new.
That celebi disk is 150 on ebay and usually those are on their own no case etc. so I think 120 is a solid deal for something you're getting in a store.
Hey nick if you don’t mind me asking how long did it take you to mod this gameboy? I’m looking at trying out this new hobby and I just wanted some info on how long it usually takes.
For real, the large store from the start was pretty ass for anything Nintendo. You’re better off going to small bookoffs for games and even consoles sometimes. I can get working consoles cheaper on Amazon JP. This is 7 months difference so I assume tourists did it, but there’s a lot more if you just look. That said the other real thing is one day it is there and the next it is gone.
