The Joan Meyers Jampel Center for Michigan Jewish Heritage includes The Leonard N. Simons Jewish Community Archives of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit and the Rabbi Leo M. Franklin Archives of Temple Beth El.
The Center is a collaborative effort to promote Michigan's Jewish heritage. Through preservation of archival collections and joint outreach through public programs and social media, these archival organizations strive to connect the past with the present and celebrate the contributions of Michigan’s Jewry to the state and beyond.

I can't tell you how often that first reaction is indulged at second hand stores. I saw so much history destroyed because it was offensive to someone working the donations bay.
I was told the very same thing about my family when they came to Australia. All my older relatives would talk about when they came to Australia our family name was changed by lazy immigration officials who mistranslated our surname. My life is a lie! 😂
My family lore is that our name was changed by a mistranslation of Yiddish to English by immigration. I’m Australian btw, but I assume that it’s a universal myth. I would love to find out who was responsible for our surname being somewhat Anglicised. It’s a mystery because it’s not as if my family hid their Jewishness as active members of the community.
98 years ago there was no Palestine. Only came about when an Egyptian named Yasser Arafat in 1988 declared the establishment of Palestine. Simple Google search tells you this history. Not your ding long stupidity

Laminating family photos or docs can do more harm than good! People often think it helps preserve them but instead it locks in the bad and can speed up deterioration/fading
@@mijewishheritage that's incorrect. Lamination can reduce contact with the air and particles that come on the air. And also protects the photos from oils and grease that come from peoples hands, sweat and/or breath. In fact lamination has been proven to keep photos from fading for years more than if you left them exposed. Lamination does not block sunlight however, and such exposure will still harm the photos. You may need to check your information sources.
@@mijewishheritage My uncle, who is in the film (he was in kindergarten at the time) said "Actually, this was 2 model seders. The first half is the Kindergarten & 1st grade, the second half is 2nd & 3rd grades." I can supply some of the names of the people if you feel it is appropriate.
