Another beautiful day on your island. Thank you for taking us along to watch this brilliant dog work with Katy. I'll look forward to seeing you with your dogs someday soon. Very best wishes Emma, Ewan and Lenny.❤
Thank you for this. My dog's parents are both working sheepdogs on a farm, but I'm training my dog for agility. We're working on stopping when I need her to stop, and also working on general obedience. This is very helpful. I can see where I'm going wrong. I'm asking her to do things when I'm not sure if she'll do them and then wondering why she ignores me.
What a beautiful place to live! I'm so glad for you all. I watched you on moving day in the rain. It seems that the time has flown. Thank you for sharing this experience. The dogs are so brilliant. I love watching you work with your four-legged shepherds ❤
Flute is a lovely girl!❤️ She’s showing lots of improvement. Sometimes I forget she’s still a pup! She gives 110% and never wants to stop- that’s a Border Collie❤️ Beautiful dogs and lovely scenery too. Always a great video and I’m learning as much as Flute!👍😄
I’m trying to train my Border Collie to herd, but we haven’t any livestock yet. Molly is 3.5 years old and has good instincts, eye and is fast. She has a good lie down and recall but she gets really excited around any distractions; joggers, bicycles, scooters and the like. She is a great dog. She thinks she is the smartest person in the world even when she doesn’t know what she’s doing! Do you have any suggestions for teaching her to settle down. Do I just get her to run off her excess energy before starting a training session? I love the way you train your dogs. Teach for success and confidence is the best way 🤗🐾
What a star! Go Fingal! So good to see you after such a long wait. I hope all is well with your sweet family. Glad to see you in your Sheep Game hoodie. I suggested to Cammy (in a comment) that he should get you two on the Fed by Farmers podcast to share your unique farming diversification. Those wee Hebridian lambs are perfectly beautiful! ❤
Hilarious! While I don’t train my own Australian Shepherds for stockdog trials, I have worked many with my local club, for our smaller arena trials with sheep, cattle, and ducks as well. “Dog broke stock” always seemed counterintuitive to me - if you want to test how your dog works, it seems silly to use livestock that have been used for practice so many times, they could run the entire course themselves with no dog or handler present. However, it seems equally daft to have dogs at the Started level, trying to work wild sheep or cattle that have never been moved with a dog before (ducks on the other hand, always seem completely daft, no matter how gentle or controlled a dog might work). I do find it hilarious to consider sheepdog trials, curling, and golf as sports inventions from Scotland! 🎉
My favorite teacher of Shepherd dogs. I own a Berger des Pyrenees . I have no sheep and I just train come bye and way and steady when we Go walking. Je likes working so much. Thank you for your videos
I adopted/rescued a border collie/Springer Spaniel mix a few years ago not for herding purposes but because she was well behaved and beautiful! SHE did naturally herd from time , including my two daughters up the stairs! She lived to be 15 years old when she developed a blood condition and passed away. I’m still not over her death. Her name was Katie and I still miss her every day. ❤️
I can totally feel your loss, I lost a 17yr old bitch BC in Feb 24 and was devastated, I miss her so much but life goes on and 2days ago I picked up a beautiful Dog collie, he was a rescue as I cant afford a pup but he is 18mnth and clueless, he wasnt given a lot of attention and was crated for long periods and even though I was told he hadnt been beaten, he is extremely nervous if you raise your hands unexpectedly but lots of loving n kindness and patience and we will rub along no problem as he has a lovely nature and is very gentle! He has totally changed my mood n outlook and I'm walking on air at the moment. Good luck with your young BC puppy!
I was a member, but the lack of high speed internet in this area meant I had to leave. No issues at all with getting a refund. Lots of good information, worth the cost if you have a good internet connection.
