Beautiful. My son and I were in the surf at Forster main beach back in April 2021. A grey nurse slid past us about 2 meters away, and it scared the daylights out of us lol. Seeing this I can see now we were ok. Sadly a few weeks later in May 2021 not long after we had our encounter a surfer was killed by a GW at Tuncurry beach. I’m glad we met the grey nurse and not the local GW 🥺 lol Question… did one of the grey nurses have a line / wire or something stuck in their mouth?
They are really quite relaxed during the day. From what I’ve been told they have a dominant structure where they swim at different depths depending on their size. Smallest at the bottom and largest at the top. That’s why they swim away from you if you dive down towards them as they see you as a larger shark to give way to. If you can hold your breath and dive down before they arrive, you can lay on the seabed and they will swim straight over you. Bush rangers Bay near Wollongong is great for that. Worth pulling in if you head down south. And yes, that poor one had some kind of hook and mine stuck in his mouth. The hook should rust away and fall off……….one day!
I've been stuck overnight in Claustral Canyon when our guide lost his bearings and thought we had over-shot the exit and had us turn around and head back up the canyon in search of the exit. Was the way you exit here the standard way out, because it looked different to the way we got out after we were rescued by a volunteer rescuer who met us in the Canyon and guided us to the exit where Police rescue where waiting for us late on Day 2.
That is gorgeous! I’m fairly new to canyoneering and am fortunate enough to live in Utah. I lived in Melbourne for awhile and loved the Dandenongs. This reminds me so much of that. I’d love to tick this canyon off my Bucket List.
I had my wedding reception at the restaurant on Shelley beach in 1986 and swam there regularly.Preferred Harbord to surf though👍 Not surprising seeing Sharks there off Shelley beach at all and I’m sure there’s more than what you saw. Sydney Harbour is also full of Bull Sharks among others and Scary to Dive at night😮 Nice Video and Great Memories of Shelley beach.🙏🙏🙏

Awesome. Snorkelled there after the bushfires. The water was murky but I knew these guys were down there and spooked myself out of the water. Must go back (and learn to duck dive properly!)

Hi there. Im doing a camping trip down to NSW from Queensland. Was wondering whether you think one night camping on Broughton Island is worth the trip over there rather than camping on the coast line. HOw many nights did you stay?
Hey Mate. These snorkeling spots are on The Central Coast of NSW, Australia. About an 80 minute drive from Sydney. The first was The Haven at Terrigal, then Toowoon Bay followed by Norah Head and we finished the day at Somersby Falls.
