Very entertaining! Thanks for taking the time to make the video. For those of us who watched this show so frequently and intensely, this was terrific to watch.
Anyone notice the second general Lee...parked up outside the building maybe a back up vehicle fof the duke boys in the event they wreck the dodge charger 👍🙂
Great to see folks still checking out hazzard county. Im assuming that was Shane with his general in covington. There are many many more sights to see around the area. Social Circle has quite a good bit of sites that are almost unchanged even 40+ years later
It would be hard to do a remake of Smokie and the Bandit because they have no one that would ever come close to playing the part as Bandit like Burt Reynolds did and Jerry Reed as the snow man and Jackie Gleason as sheriff Buford T justice. No one can ever come close.
Hen they jumped over the truck at that intersection, Luke(Tom Wopat) was driving and the fun part for model builders is, the license plate read “CNH 320”and Hazzard on the bottom.
You forgot Cooter saying “Breaker one, Breaker one, I may be crazy, but I ain’t dumb, Crazy Cooter comin’ at ya ! “😂 Or “This is crazy C on the CB”. I loved Ben Jones as Cooter.
I grew up in Covington right of Hwy 36 & was in the first episode standing in front of Harper's dime store right as the General Lee comes sliding onto the square {you can get a glimpse of me at the 1:59, 2:15 & 2:24 mark in this video, thats my dad's '72 Plymouth Fury II parked in front} & was at the jump from the opening credits at Oxford College! I was on the other side of the square in 1981 when Burt landed that plane, I was one of the folks getting out of the way as it takes off ✌💖☮
I had the TV show autographed car show up for one of my charity car shows...along with the Delorian from BTTF and the OG Knight Rider car. Good times. 3 other promised movie cars failed to show up as promised... We won't even bother to give them a mention because trash belongs out back in the past. We still had a great show for the kids without them.
PEOPLE, KIDS TODAY DONT KNOW,WILL NEVER KNOW WHAT THEYVE LOST. PAY PHONES AND HAVING ENOUGH CHANGE. FULL SERVICE GAS STATIONS THAT WOULD CHECK YOU TIRES OIL & TRANSMISSION LEVELS. THINGS ARE JUST SO SELF ABSORBED AND ALL ABOUT INSTANT GRATIFICATION. ITS SAD. I KNOW THAT EVERY GENERATION SAYS THAT THINGS BEHIND THEIR GENERATION ARE GETTING WORSE,I FEEL ITS NEVER BEEN MORE TRUE THAN TODAY. THE ENTITLEMENT, THE ARROGANCE, THE IGNORANCE AND SADLY WE'RE, IN MANY WAYS TO BLAME. WE ALL WANT OUR CHILDREN TO "HAVE IT" BETTER THAN WE DID. BUT IM NOT SO SURE. I THINK MANY OF THESE KIDS/YOUNG PEOPLE WOULD BENEFIT GREATLY IF THERE WEREN'T 24 HR. A DAY EVERYDAY TELEVISION AND INTERNET CONNECTION. WE GREW UP WITH 5 OR 6 TV CHANNELS, THAT SIGNED OFF AT 1230 OR 130 EXCEPTING THE LATE SHOW AND THE LATE,LATE SHOW ON SATURDAY NIGHT,WAKING UP AT 3 OR 4 AM TO " SNOW" AND STATIC. WE NEVER HAD CENTRAL AIR CONDITIONING UNTIL I GREW UP AND GOT OUT ON MY OWN,NONE OF THE KIDS IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD DID. AND WE ALL HAD ONE GIANT FURNACE GRATE IN A CENTRAL HALLWAY FOR WINTERTIME HEAT,MY BROTHERS AND ME WOULD WRAP UP IN A BLANKET EACH AND FIGHT FOR A SPOT OVER THE GRATE THAT WOULD FILL THE BLANKET WITH HEAT! THESE KIDS HAVE MANAGED TO GROW UP HAVING NEVER PLAYED IN THE DIRT,OR COPS & ROBBERS,AND THE MORE SENSITIVE WILL I HOPE IGNORE COWBOYS & INDIANS,NEVER GOTTEN STUCK CLIMBING IN A TREE. ITS NO DAMNED WONDER THEYRE SO MESSED UP THEYRE GOING TO DOCTORS FOR ANXIETY AND ADD MEDS! I DUNNO. EVERY GENERATION IS DIFFERENT, BUT TODAY,THINGS REALLY ARE DIFFERENT. I HOPE THEY SOMEHOW CAN GET PAST THE ISSUES( REAL AND NOT SO REAL) AND ULTIMATELY "MAKE OUT ALRIGHT". HOPEFULLY, HAVING CHILDREN OF THEIR OWN MIGHT SHOCK THEM INTO IDENTIFYING WHAT IS TRULY IMPORTANT. THEN AGAIN, MAYBE I JUST GOT TOO DAMNED OLD AND AM RAMBLIN ON LIKE THE OLD MEN,WHEN I WAS YOUNG.... " LEMME TELL YOU SUMTHIN,YOU YOUNG WHIPPERSNAPPER, IN MY DAY".........
Hello to all my Bandit fans! Jim and I took this trip in 2022 and hit all the Bandit sites and ALSO some Dukes of Hazzard sites too! I am finishing a video on all the Duke sites we hit! I will send a message here once it is uploaded! Check it out if you liked this video. If you didn't? That's ok too! Yeeeeee Haw!
Hello Jim, Smokey and the Bandit was one of my favorite truck movies of all times, same thing with Convoy. Have you ever thought of going to the film locations of Convoy? Thank you for making this video I really enjoyed it. Peace ✌️.
Grew up just up the road from most of these places, I am 53 now and remember as a Teen fishing off the original Jump Bridge....it was still standing back then.....So fun to know I grew up around such an Iconic MOVIE..... and will always be a FAN OF SMOKEY and THE BANDIT!!!!!!!!!
Ben Jones who was leaning up against the cab of the truck at the beginning and Sonny Shroyer who played the motorcycle cop who pulled Jerry Reed over for doing 90 and John Schneider at the end where he got hit by the tire when Jackie Gleason was pulling away to try and catch Burt Reynolds along with Sally Fields and Jerry Reed when they were in the Cadillac. If you notice when the tire comes off the car Jackie Gleason was driving and watch where the tire goes the person who got hit with the tire was actually John Schneider.
I have the collectors set of Smokey And The Bandit on DVD. I can never get bored of watching it and it brings back childhood memories when I was 10 years old when it came out on May 27, 1977
Same age. Piled into the trunk of a car in the summer of 77 to get into the movie at a drive-in theater in Oceanside, California. 47 years old for the movie in a few weeks. I also notice the 1976 stuff. Hopefully 250 in 2026 is just as big.
