This debate was held around proposed law changes at the time, which subsequently became statute liberalising the framework. Guess what, after the law change the world did not fall apart and things improved for workers in the industry. I'd like to say NZ thought of this first, but they didn't, they simply adopted, with modifications, the law changes that occurred earlier in New South Wales, Australia. Clearly, this kind of work is not for everyone, and personally I've never viewed the content. Being on onlyfans you’re exposed to the whole world, you have members who can remain anonymous and private…they know exactly what you look like and with the power of the internet these women have several platforms instagram, TickTock, RU-vid you can be traced if someone were to obsess over you! And that could get very dangerous in real time! I also disagree with your beauty pageant comparison, nobody’s paying the contestants directly and especially not members of the public! Although it does objectify woman, the goal is to highlight a woman’s beauty and her body is a big part of that! And I do believe to the audience at large, they try and keep it classy and professional at least on the outside! Going back to Onlyfans- I find it interesting that six years ago every woman had a *MeeToo Story* of being sexually harassed during their day to day life from Lawyers , Nurses, College students, Barmaids, Actresses, Soccer moms you name it, now 6-7 years later those same women have started Onlyfans pages, and now I guess the overly sexualization is fine as long as their the one’s profiting from it? IG models, RU-vid influencers all lead with sexual overtones to promote themselves….there’s thousands of women on RU-vid promoting a fake fitness lifestyle when it’s just a hustle to get clicks and views, every thumbnail will have an 🍑 pic in leggings and bra tops…they’ll dress it up as fitness, yoga or health but it’s a very soft version of porn and we all know that! And even though I love your look and consider you a very beautiful woman….you practice these tactics as well….it is what it is! Lastly…I do hate that we have used the internet for this type of social advancement between men and women…I do believe that social media all aspects of it; has put a wedge in between the sexes and there’s no return! You are right - we are all already objectified and sexualized anyways. Even men! Women just objective men slightly in a different men. We still gawk at hot men online in Tiktok and Instagram Reels with our comments but we also objectify them when some women are "looking for a man to pay the bills" and be head of household so they don't have to worry about struggling or even working. How else did Instagram make more money than the Instagram Modeling "era" that got huge just a few years ago.
