Watching this after Real Madrid just won ANOTHER champions league V Dortmund. So 1. Barcelona sucks lmao. Always have always will. And 2. As horrible as this ref was, that 2nd “handball” is up for debate. Not really a hand ball. More like a LAT ball
Chelsea got robbed twice against Barcelona in different years of the Championship...That's when I realised how corrupt football is, and how big politics is in the game.
Worst thing is, the ref even had clear sight of most of the actions. He either was paid or drunk this game. This is horrendous, if I would have been a Chelsea player in that game I might have at some point accidentally slide tackled the ref
It actually went both ways not only in this game , but the whole tie. but its the one that went against Chelsea that is talked about. And that is hypocrisy!
The referee in my opinion is not corrupted as he did sent off Abidal when was not an obvious Red. Anelka was already falling down and even if Anelka was tripped, by the Barcelona defender, it was obvious from the replays that it was accidental, and in actual fact it was Anelka that kicked into the defender. It was also not a clear scoring opportunity as other Barcelona defenders were ahead. It would not make sense for a cheating referee, trying to help Barcelona, to send off one of their guys when Barcelona were already trailing. Apart from this, Mourada was a clear penalty as the referee agreed that it was a foul but misjudged that it was outside the box. There were also two handballs by Barcelona that should have been penalties, but they weren't given to Chelsea. Chelsea players are rightly so to be unhappy because of these bad decisions. . But even if we assumed he was a cheating referee, he would have no control or could ever have predicted that Inesta would score a wonder goal ourside the box in the last minute. I think the referee was just not good at his job and was scared to make tough decisions, especially because Chelsea players kept yelling at him, which caused him to make poorer judgement against Chelsea towards the end.
first and second "missed" call, aswell as the 78. minute "penalty" were extremely weak fouls, i can absolutely get on board with a no-call for international football. 81 and 95 of course were blatantly missed calls and best reason why we need var.
The only penalty is the handball from pique, everything else was diving. Furthermore, ballack should not have played that match as he should have been sent off on the previous game (which was a real robbery but somehow nobody speaks about it and the penalty to Henry). The biggest robbery on football history was the inter Milano Vs Barcelona, clear robbery in order to Barcelona not winning the champions in Bernabéu
This match and Barcelona 6-1 PSG are the biggest reasons why VAR needs to exist, without it match fixing and robberies by bad referee decisions would be way more prevalent
Dani alves and malouda, this is not a fault, the two penalties to drogba are not too, and the penalti to anelkais not penali, there are two handballs yes clear, but in the first leg there was some second yellow cards not shown to Chelsea and one penalti to Henry, in the second leg red for abidal for nothing, so we cannot talk about a robbery from Barcelona, is a bad performance from the refeere
