I use a 10/40 semi synthetic because I change it around 5k or so. Personally I don’t do brands. I use a company called smith and Allan because they blend their own. Better oil at better prices 😊 they’ve been doing it since 1925 😂

It's just a small community that's hemmed in by the mountains several ways in/out of the town. Thanks to you, the closest I'll ever get to this place is watching your video while eating Black Forest Cake. i dont follow prices there so easily, but honestly, prices are rock bottom now, i cant see how they can get much lower. ive seen bikes that would have been £3000 bikes last year struggling to sell for £1500 now, some very good ones too, if i was buying, id be buying now. i turned down a good FJ1100 last week with a service history,running and MOT tested (not sure what your equivalent roadworthyness test would be) for below £1000
@diggy-d8w
@diggy-d8w 14 дней назад
I've only got $2,500 saved & I honestly can't tell you anything about the motorcycle markets in Texas & the US? Prices change drastically between geographic regions here but b/c of what they are doing to the US Dollar it's tightening up on Auto Loans & when that happens the Used Auto prices go up ; the harder it is to borrow the higher the Used car values rise. I'm assuming(I know better?) the Cycle market runs in a similar way but assuming isn't always smart !! When I buy I might have $4500 & I don't have any helpers(like You) to make sure I don't make a big mistake which is a lot of the reason I'm researching so hard now, so I have a foundation to help me. I feel reasonably confident I can but a bike w/o getting taken but when you've got no extra to take care of small things or unexpected issues then things can go awry. I know there are great buys out there for those who are able to see the deal & who've got the tools, know how, and money to bring a good buy up to par. I know you've got that ability & at one time I was a man who bought cars & I paid for the parts while a friend put it into working order, then I sold them & we split the profit. Shit, I don't have all I need to buy wisely but if I had $10K, I'd love having a man of your skill/ability so we could flip bikes. But I got no money or anything right now. As much as I'm reading & learning who knows what could be in my future ? Talking to you makes me think about the possible ! Thanks man

What exhaust system is the navigator running? Custom? Did you do any other modifications to it? Im riding one since ~6months for cross country commuting. How you can get fuel consumption down? No matter what...280km for 20l is max...ofc when just doing city driving...its even worse...would appreciate any tips tricks and hints you could give me to enjoy it even more. Mine is a black warhorse from 2001 with around 67k km on the clock.😊
@barebonesmc
@barebonesmc 17 дней назад
A lot of the work on the navigator was done by my mate who had it previously. Exhaust was custom. And like spaghetti. A long flow path and wide bore tubing. A healtec ATRE smoothed bottom end but power commander and customer remap made most difference. But they are thirst. 300 mile from a tank is exceptionally good so 280 isn’t too far off I would say. The engine just isn’t economical especially compared to modern bikes

@@barebonesmc Thank for the Info 👍 Was thinking to put a Raptor CDI in it but that wouldnt get the thirtyness down, i guess. For normal street riding the power is good enough for me and since the last KTM genious moves, a 890SMT is currently out of plan to replace the Navi in the future which was the plan but the poor fuel economy eats all money which i wanted to spare for a 890SMT. Last weeked i fitted a new air filter and spark plugs and now i think, max reach by going 80% Autobahn/Highway is now ~ 300km. Think the previous owner loved the bike much more and really had an eye on it - ofc he had it 16years and it was clean like it came fresh out of factory. I´ll check out the healtec ATRE you mentioned 👍
@barebonesmc
@barebonesmc 17 дней назад
@@DrSmile81 mine had been at its previous home many years too, Navi owners do tend to keep them lol, with the power commander, it was less about getting more power and more about cleaning up the fuelling at the bottom end, better fuelling made for smoother everything, so it went without you using the throttle so much, i think the ATRE made much less difference to be honest, that was more about releasing full power in every gear lol, i can see your dilemma with the KTM. it will take time, but it will be interesting to see in the higher oil pressure in the CF Moto engine makes a difference other than maybe pushing the problem further down the line. does sound like a growing number of KTM owners are swapping oil pump spring and hoping 🙂

Lovely! I almost felt like I was riding it myself. I have noticed one thing that bugged me when making videos that I thought must be unique to mine but, at about the same revs and probably throttle opening there's a reverberation of some sort coming from somewhere. It annoyed the hell out of me because that "2 brothers racing" system sounded great through all revs as the rider but, that bloody reverberation masked it as it went through that rev range. Hope you're doing well mate. I've been getting tangled up with things and have been missing videos by all my favorite creators. I've kept a list of ones to catch up on but, who knows when I'll get to therm. Had some fun with a mates SV 650 last week lol. He left it here, along with a second hand rear tyre that had virtually ALL of it's tread still. I felt it and warned him it felt very hard so to be careful and test it's traction by how easy it spun. I had a paddockstand and plenty of tools, plus more room to work on it so we took the wheel off here then he took it down to a fella you may have heard of who's set up a tuning shop only about 2 miles from here, he fitted and balanced it for him for a measly 5$, that was Troy Bayliss, three times world superbike champion! Old mate had asked another shop many more miles away and those greedy so and so's were going to charge him 100$ just to change the tyre, not even taking the wheel off. Anyway,. Troy warned him about the same thing. Once we got the wheel back on and he headed for his home, only about 10 minutes went by before I got a phone call "help!". He'd left here fine then hit the bigger road with an 80 kph limit where it promptly started to fling great chunks of rubber right down to the steel belting everywhere till he could stop. I've seen car retreads separate and lose the whole section of retreaded rubber but nothing like this did. It turned out to be something like 23 years old and despite absolutely no sign of cracking in the rubber, it was brittle as could be. At least he did a very nice burn out in front of my place to freshen up the surface with plenty of tyre smoke yet, oddly I couldn't find a black mark anywhere near where he did it. It sounded great though. I talked him into chucking the silly original muffler setup and put the original Titanium tail muffler off my BMW S 1,000 R on instead and when he opens it up, it sounds great. Oh well, lesson learnt about checking the age of tyres before buying, even if from a bike shop, not that this came from one, I just know I've seen a few car tyres more aged than I like at times.

OMG, typical American ignorance of relevant geographic data: the TT circuit rises to about 1300 feet, not 13,000! How could anyone make such a schoolboy howler? Otherwise a quite reasonable documentary. Oh yes and it's pronounced 'Yam-aha', not 'YA-MAHA'. Anyone else care to spot other errors?

What's the Yamaha ex up 1000cc made in about 1981 82 possibly I haven't seen this bike, the Godiva I know the name I don't know the bike that one's got me a little stumped another enjoyable video thanks for putting these together that's if you get to see my comment I've changed channel to see if it would stay there ?🤔

got the comment here, so must be specific to the other channel, and may be something my end as ther havent been as many comments as i am used to, the EXUP is a 1989 Yamaha FZR1000, but its been stripped of bodywork and lots of YZF750 parts used, including faster cams

@@Bok2022st the Navigator was a beast, they were rare everywhere, only made in small numbers. buut with a Suzuki TL1000 power plant in a small and relatively light ADV bike, you can imagine it went well lol. faster than the big Vstrom by a fair margin 🙂 just too much of a handful off road. more like a supermoto on steroids than an ADV bike 🙂

Awesome pegs I like that swivel part plus they look a lot better than stock so as long as they worked out ok for you that's a good easy upgrade and I think personally they would work much better especially with muddy or wet feet 👍

They are significantly wider so should create less of a pressure point when stood up, and the springs do seem good, I will keep you posted. They are offering me a deal if i buy a few pairs, but shipping would probably make it expensive from here to you, but they might do it direct. they have no distributer here, not sure if they do in Oz, its a fairly young company

When in doubt, just reach for the hammer. Kidding aside, be careful with aftermarket foot pegs and peg lowering brackets. The bike I bought (used) had peg lowering brackets which I removed. Unfortunately, the bracket used a slightly larger diameter pin which required the steel frame brackets to be drilled out slightly. Not a great idea. So, when I put the original pegs back in place I had to drill out the pegs to match the oversized pin from the lowering bracket. It works fine, but not something I’d have wanted to do.
@BareBonesMCMyMotorcycleMadness
@BareBonesMCMyMotorcycleMadness 2 месяца назад
always better to check first :-) as you saw, the pin fitted fine, the springs were just stronger than the originals, but they havent had 18 years uf use yet :-) being honest, ive got a fair few ive tried, but mostly alloy, these are built like brick shithouses in comparison, but they are heavier, a lot heavier, i have some "Hammer" related Tshirts lol, "if a first you dont succeed, use a bigger hammer" and "If at first you dont succeed, hit the Fu&ker Harder" lol, i have a good collection of hammers lol, even a big rubber one :-) have a great week mate

Fwiw, groups of Harley riders behave the same back here in the USA. Very entitled. They frequently block traffic at intersections so their whole group can pass through at their glacial pace.
