They get bored easily...chew alot...very inquisitive...walk around the house..not cuddly ...loyal ..insecure..loves running...needs lots of acres to run..likes one on attention...gets jealous of other dogs..girl cute...
I have an AKC lab and catahoula mix. He is definitly a handfull but i love him. My dog is very very protective to the point my own family can not come into my house kids are not allowed to rough house with eachother because he gets between them and growls. He is extremely snuggly and up my butt everywhere i go he sleeps literally on top of me he has to be touching me i cant sit in my recliner without him sitting on me. He even sqeezes into my patio chair when im sitting outside. Hes 95lbs of cuddle. He is super active he was very destructive as a puppy he is just approaching his 2nd birthday and has become less destructive. I do have to say he is way too smart for his own good and can easily jump 6ft which is why i had to sell my kitchen table and buy a bar table counter surfer is an understatement he literally walks across my counters. He was potty trained in 4 days at 10 weeks old. His nose is always going he is obsessed with harassing toads in the yard and is a better mouser than my outdoor cats. Overal i would say they are not for beginner dog owners or people who have not had a high prey high energy dog before but i love my boy. His biggest issue is he is absolutely terrified/ nervous of everything and everyone. I socialized him as a puppy but even people he has known his whole life cant step foot in my house. He was a super star in puppy training but is still very nervous of other dogs and people.
It’s a neverending process so to say you’ve done it and are fully healed is actually incorrect. Because we never stop learning, growing and healing on infinite levels. 😎😏
How can I get to this point? I've been trying to lucid dream and have been doing reality checks to throughout the day for the past week now. Almost every night I have a vivid dream but can't seem to become conscious during them
Hey Taylor, it takes some practice and having the ability to monitor your mind. The first step is mind control- meaning, knowing the difference between your conscious and subconscious minds and the messages they are sending you. Next add some neutrality to this- meaning, being able to watch all parts of you rather than react or respond immediately. Become the observer in your life and this will help you I. Observing and co trolling your dream space. I recommend a meditation practice. Something else that helped me is Shamanic journeying. You can find many resources here on RU-vid or doing a google search for live classes in your area. Also, the Foundation for Shamanic Studies is great.
We had that issue when he was un-neutered. I made a video about teenage catahoula Obie where I discuss that more. In case you want to see it Everything you need to know before your catahoula becomes a teenager ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oa9_wCAY9UA.html
You hitting the GERD topic was incredibly random and so helpful! We rescued a Catahoula, had DNA done and she’s half Cat and half Plott Hound, which are very close breeds as it is. Ours also takes her bones away to be alone. We call it her business meeting. Then she has Conference bones, that she only chews on if my husband is standing up talking to me when I’m sitting. Such a weirdo! Back to GERD. Kona was rescued from a beyond horrific situation along with 3 dozen other dogs. We figured that because she was almost starved to death was the reason for her stomach issues. She cannot handle high proteins. Raw beef diet cost us a cool few thousand at the ER because she wouldn’t stop regurgitating. I can’t express my gratitude enough that you talked about this and included links. We’ve had her on an OTC stomach acid medication for almost a year and I don’t like that she’s on it. We’ve seen a lot of success also with a good pre and probiotics supplement. But she still has times where she gets bloated and not only super gassy, but she seems miserable for a couple days. Won’t eat, sluggish, it’s sad. I switched to human grade canned dog food (she broke off a lot of teeth trying to chew through her 3’ chain for her first year and a half on this planet) because she won’t eat dry. We do duck and pumpkin and pork and pumpkin. I do have to on rare occasion make the bland chicken and rice diet for her but she does really well with it. Curious if your dog has ever been attacked my an aggressive dog before. Ours was great at dog parks, timid, but getting better until she was attacked by a Pitbull and it changed her completely. Now we can’t let her near other dogs because she’s so reactive agressive. One more question for you is how is yours with his home territory and going bananas when a delivery comes? Ours goes from green to red and there is really no room for negotiations because she’s actually aggressive with us once she’s in her Wrath of God mode. Were you able to catch that soon enough?
Wow! so happy to hear that this video helped you and diet is such a big factor! My dog was attacked by a pit bull in his pack ,no less. I used homeopathics to save him, made a video about that too...ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-04H2qjWMy7A.htmlsi=7OORHLVtUgE6yP08. And yes,he gets terratorial at home- i've learned to tell him "thank you" in a nice tone of voice and that helps, most of the time. Other times, i have to put him in a time out to get him to listen to me!
Try to teach her to stop and sit when she’s just starting to get wild or aggressive and don’t forget this is an unforgiving breed so do not yell or be physical they will NOT TOLERATE IT so speak sternly and try to train her again to stop and sit. Practice redirecting techniques with her to start and then work your way up to sitting-layingdown- or going to her “place” and then staying. A good way to do this is to teach them how to stop and then stay until they are given the recall command. Once she has this down, start to do the same kind of thing this time with small distractions going on around her and then work your way up to real world distraction tolerance training such as deliveries
@@janemarie3763 your advice is fantastic. Made total sense. We also read a blog that was geared for this condition and it echoed some of what you said, but we definitely chose to use your advice for practice, practice, practice. She’s very treat oriented and that helped a lot with her learning to listen. Listening has always been an issue. You saved the day because when she’s not listening, especially not coming inside from her yard time, we would ramp up our voices like our parents did when we were kids. She’d then sometimes listen out of fear, or just hide outside. It felt awful making her scared we were going to hurt her. We’ve had her 4 years and she still has panic attacks over even tiny beeps or aluminum foil tearing, or taking something out of a noisy bag. She’ll cower like we are going to hit her, and we’ve really strived to give her a loving peaceful home. I don’t work, and my husband works from home. Empty nesters. She has a calm environment with hugs and attention all day long. I feel bad now for raising my voice. So we did all the practicing, and she was good. But then she’d see an Amazon truck outside and all hell broke loose. The trainer said that these dogs come programmed with “jobs” they must do. Secure the perimeter. Ward off all foreign and domestic enemies. Not rest until she walks us to the front door to get that package before the enemy infiltrates. So- Amazon pulls up. Grrrrrrrr bark!! Then my husband in sweet voice- Is there someone here Kona? Then she gets to bark 4-5 times. This allows them to feel they did the job. Then comes a high value treat. She goes running to dad to get it. He takes her to her treat mat and says “Quiet”. After doing this many times, it switched to “Quiet” first, then she got on the mat and got the high value treat. Lots of praise with interjecting “quiet” into the praise. Now she barks a few times, nose stamps my husband to let him know she did her job and she sits on her mat and waits. She gets a small treat made only of fruits and vegetables. It’s so great!!! 😭 Such a relief!! I’ve been so terrified of her going through the bay window that I was convinced it’s just a matter of time. She’s 80lbs of muscle and the way she throws her body against the window is terrifying. Our insurance agent said he’s had claims of dogs going through those windows and attacking. The other concern is one of the neighbor kids entering our backyard to get their ball unannounced. We have a new tall secure fence, but both kids are special needs, God bless them, and sometimes they forget to ask first so our dog is put up. We ended up taking out a million dollar umbrella policy out for just in case situations in home or outside anywhere else. For $28 a month, we can sleep at night. I appreciate you taking the time to chat with me!
I have rotti catahoula mix, I’ve had catahoulas before. They are best dogs, they are so smart and interactive. Mine has a personality and so much love in his big body.

Many dogs grow back into cuddling, on their own terms. I just lost a dog who refused to accept or give cuddles from ages 3 months to 2 years. Around 2, he realized that if he came to me for cuddles, he could get his itchy skin scratched until he fell asleep. He NEVER wanted huggy cuddles, all the way to his last hours! He would happily accept scratches and would cuddle until he felt trapped or restricted. Let them feel like they can get away whenever like/need.

Another thing we did for my Catahoula’s stomach is feeding him smaller amounts more times a day and he has a maze bowl that helps him eat slower. We really struggled in the beginning, but mine seems good his tummy will only mess up if my daughter feeds him too much table scraps.
Thanks for that tip. I made a follow up to this video- Owning a Catahoula Teenager- please check it out! Would love to hear your thoughts! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oa9_wCAY9UA.html
This is the first video I've seen about Catahoula dogs that describes traits in common with my Catahoula. I've never seen another Catahoula - mine just showed up, wouldn't leave, and adopted me. Every other video I've seen about them describes a different personality than you. I had adopted an obedient wants-to-please GSD that died twelve years ago and *never* would have deliberately chosen a Catahoula after that. This dog has now trained me! Thanks for your video reinforcing my observations of this independent but wonderful dog.

I have one. Amazingly smart, athletic, sweet. Just a great dog. But I 100% agree they do not snuggle. Indepent. I get a random 5 minute cuddle once a month maybe.

Can’t have chicken or turkey? Foreigners need to stay away from our animals with that nonsense, It’s an Indian dog Indians call it a HOODOO hound🔥 INDI means black Indian means of Black people Indigenous means Blacks of principal taxonomy class Catahoula is an Indian dog They eat what Indians eat If you’re not an Indian? You don’t know how to feed the dog and you never will So Take good care Treat them better than you treat Black people They belong to the land🇺🇸
Right now he’s on raw food- mix of fish, sweet potatoes, and other basically puréed veggies mixed with vitamins, organ meats and minerals. That has been the best for his body, his coat and allergies. He was on kibble for a few months for ease, but gained weight and was heavy in his step and movements. Hope that helps!

So you could possibly be perfect the way you are the real question is are you the best you that you can be? Do you expect more out of the other person then what your giving out? As far as being triggered and or triggering someone else it could be justified to reflect on self emotions but if one is purposely triggering you when they know how you feel about the certain subject then don’t waste your time and or energy on them it’s a loss cause! Stay positive stay motivated and keep being beautiful and perfect
I didn't know that dogs can get acid reflux. I have acid reflux and no doctor could help me, finally went to a homeopathic doctor at the behest of my aunt and she told me that this problem is actually caused by your stomach not producing enough mucus to line itself. So now I drink 24 oz of water before bed and had to cut out sugar, which actually seemed to cut back on about 70% of my acid reflux. A teaspoon of mustard helps if it comes back. So while those homeopathics sound like quack doctors it was the only person who could help me. Passing this on for anyone else.
