Terraforming mars ecosystem idea? Also fun fact: mars used to have a lot of water like a lot there was flowing river and some small oceans according to sources
Well.. ones a colony is 100k ants then the qweens lay alates and males, who when after it rains they come out in air and mate which is called a nuptial flight after that the qweens land and males die then the qween will make a small chamber in the moist by rain ground and become a qween
As someone that wants to get into doing these kind of things, this was very nice to watch. Although I cant hear you over the music at times. Loved the tour tho.
The only reason I don’t live feed is because of parasitic mites, tiny little hitchhikers usually red in colour and less than 1 millimetre that suck the blood of insects that can completely wipe out ant colonies within 2 weeks, since females can reproduce asexually, all it takes is one mite on an insect that you give your ants, that’s all it takes for your colony to be wiped out. There are many ways to prevent this such as THROUGHLY inspecting insects before you give them to your ants or, the best way, boil the insect in boiling water for a few seconds before you give it to your ants.
I have done this in the past but I inspected the insects before feeding, Ideally I wouldn't have fed live but it's all I had and I wanted to test the ants natural instincts!
Ethically, I don’t have a problem with live feeding, I think the people who say “oH nO ItS cRuEl!” Are a bit silly, I only worry about parasites, I would love to test my colonies’ natural instincts like that, but the risk of parasites is too great in my opinion.
Nice video. Try getting a new camera to record with higher quality. You could also try turning down the music when you're talking so that you can be more understood.
