I assume he’s using water/methanol injection setup for cooling and fueling also if he runs e85 it’s a lot easier to hit that 500 my setup is tuned on 91 pump gas with no methanol even a basic setup with meth keeps cylinder temps so much cooler and avoids the piston rings from touching so you can run more boost and more timing safer on e85 with methanol ill be adding meth to my setup but the kits expensive so It won’t be right away I’m going to see how much power I can make without it on 91 pump gas and this massive front mount intercooler and my ported headlight intake it keeps intake temps a lot cooler then taking air from the engine bay.

So do you believe that the piston ring needs upgraded just for the ring itself for the n52 in order to run over 14 psi to 19 psi of boost or we can still stick to the stock one that’s fully brand new and we can still run 14 psi to 19psi or boost or do you believe it’s gonna keep blowing up even if you get a brand new stock one
@rumrunnersracing
@rumrunnersracing Месяц назад
The piston rings need to be gapped for boost in any n/a car you can boost a naturally aspirated car but only low boost as n/a cars run high compression to make power. turbo cars use low compression with boost, The rings being new or not has little to do with anything. When u add boost u add heat to the cylinders and the rings expand with heat. If u add extra heat and pressure in the cylinder without lowering compression or gapping the rings the piston rings will expand and contract in the cylinder like it does but if the piston ring gap isint big enough rings ends touch each other then it binds and snaps off the piston ring land. So more cylinder temps and pressure u add u need more ring gap. long story short low boost 7psi on stock motor is fine with stock rings higher boost needs a bigger ring gap. Boosted cars like lower compression ratios and more ring gap then n/an applications if you want the engine to last. My issue wasent heat it was the high compression ratio with to much boost creeping over 14psi to 16psi ide say 10psi max if you don’t intend on opening the motor and using stock pistons and rings. Any more ur gunna wanna do internal work.

You keep blowing the same cylinder because that corresponding injector is probably clogged/partially clogged, and its running super lean. Suggest having your injectors cleaned and/or buying new injectors
@rumrunnersracing
@rumrunnersracing Месяц назад
That’s not it the tune was checked it’s fine fueling and timing we’re both set conservative. the issue is without opening the head and gapping the piston rings these motors run to high compression ratio to go anything over 14psi without gapping the piston rings for boost even with a healthy tune. Injectors were flow tested to be good and Theyr genuine Bosch injectors from a porches they were 1100$ for 6. These engines just have weak ring lands it’s the #1 weakest point when trying to make big power with these motors. My issue was wastegate diaphragm was to small turbo was to big at 6500rpm it started to boost creep logs showed it hit 16psi a few times when drifting to close to the limiter and that did it. Plus driving it hard af all the fine didn’t help longevity 😆

@@rumrunnersracing Ok, you should put all this in the video it would make great content, also how about stacking two headgaskets to bring the compression down a bit? my mitsubishi eclipse has a factory 7.8:1 CR and with the right turbo it was very fast, if you bring yours down from 11:1 to like 9:1 maybe that would help. @@alexj.9268 you can buy a thicker head gasket it would lower compression but you don’t know by how much and it makes it more likely to blow the head gasket. @@murilocalegari6559 14psi on an Amazon gt35 turbo. Currently doing a full engine overhaul with lower compression pistons going from 11:7:1 to 9:3:1 and gapping the piston rings shooting for 18-20psi trying to hit the 700whp mark making this the fastest n52 to date #goals 😆 I’ve hit 600whp on the dyno before but intake air temps were getting to high. So I’m adding meth injection to the setup as well to keep things cool

@@PKperformanceEU mine has held up to the abuse I have a lightweight six puck disk in there so that likely helped it last. Given the choice finances aside I would have went single mass all day tho this dmf I actually got at the scrap yard 😅
