Motorcycle camping and camp cooking. I enjoy traveling and camping with my motorcycle. I hope to build this channel up over the years with lots of cool and awesome memories of my travels. I was at my Harley Davidson dealership and they said because my 2004 road king has 40,000 miles on it that its time to replace the everything in the cam chest. They said i shouldn't reuse anything. They told me to get a kit from fueling. I was going to do it on the super cheap like you and even reues the push rods. He said at 40k cams, lifters, bearings and everything is ready to be replaced. I usually don't trust dealerships but they weren't trying to sell me anything. He told me not to buy Harley parts because they are more expensive and not as good. They weren't even trying to sell me on the labor for them to do it. He seems genuinely like he just wanted to give me some good advice.
@@blg020 At 60k I plan on changing out everything including the cam plate and upgrade to hydraulic tensioners. I did inspect everything when I had it apart, and everything looked good with no wear except for the tensioners themselves.
Not the only way to remove axe. Get cordless angle grinder and cut U bolt. Thanks for the axe. Open fuel container and siphon fuel thanks for the gas. Or just punch a hole and let it drain. Again thanks. I thought them tail pipes were for you and ya boyfriend to have some fun. 😂 What’s this 2 flags, were does the LGBTQ+ one go ? Yeap trailer isn’t heavy enough so let’s tie stuff on top. 😂😂 I thought the 3 holes up to was drain holes. The swivel tow hitch is the right move. That ice chest isn’t big enough. Right let’s load this puppy. 800lbs you say. 😂😂😂😂😂
Steve, you have a gift for simplicity when explaining "how to" information. Seeing the 'average guy' version of how to do this will help many accomplish this chore. People like to see the real version of DIY instead of some expert who flies through through the instructions and someone has to play the video back 398 times to see what is going on. No matter what engine it is, cam tensioners take a lot of pressure. Being that the tensioner is such an intricate part, especially with a twin cam motor, guys who sit at red lights revving the crap out of their engines don't realize what damage they are doing to them. Hey man, its good to see you on and posting videos again. Really hope you get to get back out there and start filing some camping and traveling. Best to you, bro.
Steve I just found your channel ans watched 2 videos about your motorcycle trailer. I was wondering if you have a spare tire for the trailer and, if so, where do you have it mounted? Thank you.
I don't have a spare for my trailer or my bike. I have a plug kit and compressor. But I know a lot of people who mount a spare underneath the trailer using a U-bolt.
You're welcome. If I had it to do again I would get the XL. I was worried if my old bike, 1100 V-Star would pull it alright. But I pulled this trailer thousands of miles over the Rockies and elsewhere with no problems.
I do a lot of conversions on the earlier twin cams in my shop. I've seen some with as low as 20,000 miles that need them done. There's no Rhyme or Reason to it it doesn't matter how often you change the oil. More often than not the tensioner on the back side is completely wiped out usually down to the metal while the tensioner on the front still has plenty of meat on it. If your crankshaft runs true enough the best conversion is Gear Drive. But most crankshafts aren't true enough for that so the next best alternative is to convert it to the hydraulic tensioners.
Great video. My 06 Heritage Softail is still less than 20k miles but should do this sooner than later. Did you use HD replacement or aftermarket tensioners?
@@briandavis8977 I would plan on changing them out at 30k. That’ll buy you another 30k. Or if you have the funds upgrade to hydraulics. I’ll probably upgrade in another 30k. Watch for my video in two years! lol
My 2002 Roadking inner tensioner did exact same thing. I went with 535 lift Fueling "conversion cams" High volume oil pump & hydraulic cam plate tensioner. (So this won't ever be an issue again) New upper end w/95" kit. Took a week but did it all myself in my one car garage. You should be proud as well doing this yourself! 🛠️
Was begging for u to pick up that piece of bacon that fell to the side!! Why did u just leave it there!!! It deserved to be on that burger as much as the rest of the bacon!
dang...I was sold on this little fan, till I found out you actually need 110 to charge....not really and off grid fan. Would of loved to see a version that charges with the use of a USB. anyone know if they make one?
You sold me on this tent last year and I'm glad I got it. Such a cool tent. Super light but easy to set up and spacious. Shame they discontinued it because I'd love to have gotten the garage accessory for it.
@@RafaelGuerreroThe4th I couldn’t tell you. I did this video two years ago so far it’s still working. But when I’m camping on my motorcycle, I usually take my Dewalt fan because it’s more portable.
It's a wonder why people dont market motorcycles with trailers. It's probably the SMARTEST thing you can do to enjoy motorcycles and actually have real utility. I ride a motorized bicycle with a trailer and an electric front hub motor.
Like it, how much does it weigh? Buying a Spyder and researching what trailer is best for me. Going to check your videos for more content now. Liked and subscribed. Cheers from a Swede in Mexico
