Rock 'n' roll kids Los niños del rock and roll I remember sixty-two I was sixteen and so were you And we lived next door on the avenue Recuerdo el sesenta y dos Yo tenía dieciséis años y tú otros tantos Y vivíamos en la puerta vecina en la avenida Jerry Lee was big and Elvis too Blue jeans and blue suede shoes And we never knew what life held in store We just wanted to rock 'n' roll forever more Jerry Lee era grande y Elvis también Vaqueros azules y zapatos de ante, de gamuza, azules Y nunca sabíamos lo que la vida nos reservaba Sólo queríamos más rock and roll para siempre We were the rock 'n' roll kids Rock 'n' roll was all we did And listenin' to those songs on the radio I was yours and you were mine That was once upon a time Now we never seem to rock 'n' roll anymore Éramos los niños del rock and roll El rock and roll era todo lo que hacíamos Y escuchar esas canciones en la radio Yo era tuyo y tú eras mía Era un érase una vez Ahora nunca nos parecemos ya más al rock and roll Now Johnny's in love with the girl next door And Mary's down at the record store They don't wanna be around us no more Ahora Johnny está enamorado de la chica de la puerta vecina Y Mary está abajo en la tienda de discos Ellos no quieren estar alrededor de nosotros más Golden oldies, but we hardly speak Too busy running to a different beat Hard to understand we were once like them How I wish we could find those rock 'n' roll days again Viejecitas de oro, pero casi no hablamos Demasiado ocupados corriendo hacia un ritmo diferente Difícil comprender que fuimos una vez como ellos Cómo deseo que pudiéramos encontrar esos días de rock and roll otra vez We were the rock 'n' roll kids Rock 'n' roll was all we did And listenin' to those songs on the radio I was yours and you were mine That was once upon a time Now we never seem to rock 'n' roll anymore I was yours and you were mine That was once upon a time Now we never seem to rock 'n' roll Simplemente ya nunca nos parecemos más al rock and roll We just never ѕeem to rock 'n' roll аnymore ((The lyrics cut the figure of some north american novels: John steinbeck, John dos passos, william faulkner, sinclair Lewis, truman capote, etc.)) ((An all-time winner to be proud of it)) 20/6/2024

Agreed. If you compare this year (interrupting the songs, talking over the presenters, slurring his words, all the criticism) with his early years (look at the preparation that went into his 1981 commentary from Dublin, for example), he'd clearly stopped being professional and just jumped on the gravy train winging it - pity....
Fun fact: Hadise was performing very well in the rehearsals of the song. In fact, we Turks were saying "we won for sure". However, what happened was that he got sick (40 degree fever) in the semi-finals and grand finals, and the incident became extremely lynching during this period. But at least it made me very proud that we saw someone who liked it even though he was sick and performing poorly. Also thank you very much!
Ah, the years where every country translates its song entirely, or worse, just the last verse of it to English like an idiot. Even France! 🤦♀ I can't believe how much it changed the feeling of the song all of a sudden. And the "original" Slovene version of "Energy" was much more beautiful.
After several great winners this one I felt was a bit... meeeh... Not bad, but too generic and unmemorable. In general it was a rather poor contest for the 90s, but Iceland really stood out. Especially in that last position - after 24 pretty much 90s songs it felt as if you've skipped 15 years forward. So much ahead of its time.
The best eurovision hosts off all time. Spontaneous, witty, and full of charisma. Relaxed on stage, and no cheesy rhyming lines. Talking between themselves as if they were in a bar.
Edyta had an amazing Disneyesque voice back then and after that performance she became a superstar here. Today she's taken half-seriously because of some unhinged comments about the pandemic and the supernatural.
