To my knowledge, I was the first DJ to play this song. I was at Judy's House of Oldies when Craig Woolard and other Embers were played the song. They said it was a good song but they wouldn't cover. Bought the record and took it back to Red Dogs at Wrightsville Beach, NC and played the hell out of it.
This song was written by Ray Robert Whitley and J R Cobb (of Atlanta Rhythm Section fame) and the original Tams record was produced by Joe South. A lot of talent involved in making the original record and this version is still sounding good.
