So the number one cause of the erosion of confidence in the American election process has at least a 50/50 chance of being elected President once again. I’m starting to wonder if Americans deserve democracy.
If a person wants to vote in a presidential election, They have four years to figure out how to get an ID .if they are not smart enough to get an ID then they are too stupid to vote😮
Just like Nazi Germany it took the actual destruction of the South to bring it to its knees. Like the inefectual bombing raids of the Allies... the march to the sea by Sherman did accomplish an economic destruction that was useful but hardened the resolve of the Confederates to wage a total war of annihilation where they wouldn't capitulate. Formally the Confederacy never capitulated but lost because its means to wage war was destroyed, with most of its government fleeing abroad in 1865. Also by 1864 trench warfare was in full swings and we are lucky Lee didn't see the nascent Gaitling Gun or else it would have all turned into a WW1 stalemate real quick.
It is possible to follow a path to enlightenment within a church, though it's not easy. For me, having been brought up within a socialist (communist) environment of former Yugoslavia gave much more freedom to search and explore religious philosophy, meaning and practises of different cultures yet eventually 'bringing it all back home' - to Christianity and it's mysticism. It is really great to have such talks as these within catolic community.
Nicholas Carr brings up such an important point about the decline of empathy in the digital age. With more interactions happening online, we lose the face-to-face moments that naturally foster empathy. As someone who emphasizes the power of empathy in my work, I’ve seen how digital platforms can sometimes replace meaningful connection with surface-level interactions. It’s why I focus on teaching others to be more intentional with their empathy in both digital and real-world settings. Thanks for sharing this thought-provoking talk-I discuss similar ideas in my videos on empathy and its impact!
It might help when companies would not use pointed out psycological research to trigger people towards certain reactions so people would stay engaged and stick with a platform. In that sense any reasearch is dual use i guess ^^, for good or for money.
It takes between 1.5-3.5 hours to walk 6 miles if you are a 5’1” female regardless of age but more about pace of walk. I want a healthy heart. But the modern American society is so toxic because what we really spend most of our energy on in this country is $$$$. Working an 7-8 hour day requires 3 additional hours of preparedness including driving time etc. cooking healthy meals is time consuming when considering budget prep, shopping, food prep, cooking and cleaning. Sleep is 6-9 hours if you’re lucky. So we haven’t even gotten to spending leisure time with oneself or others. If we walk 2 hours, sleep 6, work 8 but also include what that takes (ha, minus all the years of preparing to work growing up) 3 more hours we are so far at 19 hours. This leaves 5 hours to live our lives which includes shopping and cooking and being with ourselves or families or others. He mentioned that tribe sleeps 9 hours. I chose 6 so subtract 3 from the 5 and we have two hours left to meet all our other responsibilities. Conclusion? Modern life isn’t conducive to optimal health but is conducive to optimum non health and acquiring money and stuff. Ha, haven’t even gotten to mental health!
This should be a Ted Talk! Thank you Professor Shaw . Everyone should see this, starting in middle school, study Constitution instead of the pilgrims. We have a lot of work ahead of us and it's up to us to foster the next generation so they aren't corrupt and abusing power like these old bench warmers that are twisting our founding fathers intention to be free of tyrannical rule and one We the People.
Ryan, my 80+ years of experience have taught me that you are much more correct than incorrect. However, your generalizations and extrapolations from small amounts of data points have lead you to espouse conclusions that are probably not justified.
Thank you Professor Shaw for your intellect and gift for breaking down the complexities of the workings of the Supreme Court. I appreciate the work you do and the message you are sharing with us, fellow U.S. citizens!
@@gigmar456wow, really? That he tries to call women he raped such names (I have lost count, but over 30 cases settled) doesn't make it true. It is just more of his lies. Check Washington Post for a full list of his lies and why they are untrue. Check an unbiased facts checker for his lies. Reality matters. What do you think he meant when he said if you vote this time, you won't ever have to vote again? How do you think he will do anything to help you or this country? He won't unless you are a 1%er or big business.
