Could you do a comparison of Valheim Vs. Enshroudded? So many friends compared them each other but I haven't played the latter, and played Valheim only when it was released.
Everything is ok, but there are a lot of small details, which may be better. Like, more markers for map or slots for armor+accessory, because it's stupid to waste your investory slots for putted on armour
This is a game, that if you jump in for the first time, don’t study up on tutorial and progress as fast as you can. This game is designed so that figuring stuff out is part of the magic and is a lot of what makes it so amazing. I followed the advice of a RU-vidr I watched early on and stopped watching tips and tricks videos, so that the game would be more my own. If you figure out some hack on your own, it feels so much more organic and your own and the game somehow makes it that way. It’s a much more enjoyable experience. This video is a great homage to the true nature of the game without any spoilers (except how to build a nice chimney). 😂
Ok, let's dial it back a notch. It was a good game, but we must admit the world was a little empty, and reacting in it was dissipionting. More you can't do than you can. RDR2, it is not. Hopefully with the second things will change.
Best thing is sailing around the world collecting valuables. And then (just because you are close to the edge) you decide to check how the edge of the map is. The current near the edge sucked our boat and we fell off the world (5 persons). We lost all our best upgraded iron gear and tons of resources. 5/5 would sail to the edge again.
8:30 in high school there was a poster on the wall in the science class it said in 20 years people won't remember what you wore or even what you said. They will remember how you made them feel though. Perfect analogy for video games. I can go back and play my favorite MMORPG of all time dark is a Camelot and it doesn't feel the same, and that's okay because the memories I got from it at the time last forever.
My very fave feature of Valheim is how everything is completely discoverable. Everything in the game you can work out with a little creative trial and error. Items and abilities are unlocked step by step and work together so *clearly* that we were constantly discovering cool things we could do with what we had. Coming from other games that were so opaque and so rushed I felt like gameplay was "read the strat/watch the vid, mindlessly follow the steps, repeat" (Looking at you, WoW). Valheim's richness and freedom are wonderful. And the sailing!
My first survival game was Subnautica and it was such an experience... Audibly it is even better than Valheim - music and noises depending on biome and there were plenty of pretty scary ones... Great after work relaxation in water with Avatar-like glowing sea life! But I think I can play Valheim for more hours than Subnautica while still being interesting.
Valheim is also my absolute favorite survival game, for most of the reasons you've mentioned. Well, up until you get to the Mistlands... In my opinion I think the devs have lost the sauce in their Mistlands and Ashlands updates and didn't know when to say enough is enough in development. I really do wish I could enjoy those two zones as I do the first 5, but I just cant.
"It's strikingly obvious that the developers of the game have tried to create a game that's respectful of the players' time." A resource collection game with as many impediments to resource collection as possible. You get 32 inventory slots. Four go to armor, four to weapons, usually one for a shield, then three non-weapon tools, three food items, usually some special item like a biome key or ore detector, and then a potion and the stuff to build a portal, for over 50% of your slots filled just with essential gear. This all weighs like 40% of your possible carry weight, but don't worry you can improve that by.... sacrificing another inventory slot. 🤦♂ But hey, InVeNtOrY mAnAgEmEnT iS A fUn pArT oF tHe GaMePlAy LoOp. I actually love this game and can't stop playing it, but I'm not sure if that just makes me a masochist.
I was totally stuck on the boss after Eikthyr, didn't know what to do. In most games i'd be stuck, but in Valheim i had a friend join me in coop and he showed me what to do. Didn't have to level up anything and that is the most awesome feature of Valheim - the seamless joining into another players game session, and that you can bring items with you. Sure, people can cheat easily by bringing OP gear they spawned, but that is a problem more with them than with online play. First time i saw a troll, i had already levelled up archery to the point that i was able to kite them and take them out from a distance. Got some gold out of it and there were much rejoycing.
imo no this game is good but it still has a lot of problems though fun it's still full of bugs and the whiny baby's that make the developers Nerf certain creatures takes away from the experience
Not gonna lie, when I clicked on this video, I thought you were gonna slag off valheim for not being a "true" survival game. But the video I've just seen is a beautiful summary of why I love the game so much. :)
The most crazy part for me is that his game cost 20 bucks, no micro transaction, no dlc cost, free huge updates etc. i sometimes wish they would charge me more to have more money for great updates but it looks like they dont even need it.
I think Valheim is really good, but holy do i hate the stamina draining so fast and i found mistlands so boring that i just stopped playing. Ashlands seems awesome though might pay the game a visit again.
Much better than enshoured and soulmask Idk why Probably the freedom you have from exploring to building to crafter and taming Farming do need more work
My favorite moment was when we found a fuling for the first time. It was wandering in a dark forest spot (probably attracted by other dark forest monsters) and since it looked so silly and small, we (my friends and i) were fully confident that we could kill him. We've just got our bronze tier armors a couple of hours ago and we felt invincible... we were wrong... very wrong. I ran towards him with my mighty bronze shield as i was attempting to parry him, instead, got instantly vaporized from a single blow. 10/10 experience. We laughed so hard for probably one hour. My only regret is not being able to record it a the time.
"skyrim" just because it's vikings doesn't automatically make it skyrim lol You can't be a souls like combat and a skyrim combat, they're completely different things Open world exploration would be true if it was a world like subnautica where it's all hand placed. You don't see people making comparisons between minecraft and skyrim like that
Im on my fourth playthrough now that ashlands released. Me and my playgroup dont have a lot of time on our hands though and we want to progress together. so we just entered the mountains. In between we have been building bases and exploring. I am so looking forward to the new additions in thw ashlands. Our playgroup has not had many spoilers so far. Its the best experience to stumble across things and find out this way.
tbh same plus the fact that the game's raids are dependent on how much youve actually progressed is a nice touch. it shows how you can play casually as long as youd like
Valheim is great and I spent a lot of time just building stuff while listening to podcasts about history. Although, I have to say, the one thing that always annoys me is the terraforming. Sometimes I get so frustrated with it that I stop playing Valheim and go for Minecraft instead.
This game is damn near perfect, the first time i played with my brother and his friends i absolutely fell in love with this masterpiece. Such amazing and horrible memories this game creates XDDD
