So on this channel I will be uploading my 'In Conversation With' series the extended interviews of the artist you all know and love that I've had the pleasure of speaking to on my radio show.
Tune into the radio show every Friday from 6pm exclusively on RWSfm103.3
Cool interview. The wait for new music is killing me, but at this point I'd rather wait for a new album vs singles or an EP. Karnivool have always been an "album band" for me much like Tool or Radiohead. Each of their releases have a unique sound/texture to them that makes them stand out from one another.
Great Interview Looking forwards to the new album... shame about the DMW Norwich gig being postponed due to illness but if like me you were there for Beth's Last minute extended FREE set to not disapoint fans on the night You missed a belter.
Fantastic interview! The album is amazing! TWR deserves to be in the charts. We have ordered everything on pre- order. Get your green album now! Love you guys🤟❤️
Great interview, Lee. Have to say, this my least favourite of Rival Sons records. The fact it took 2 years makes sense, as when you listen to Darkfighter & Lightbringer, it sounds like it took a long time to write. It doesn't have the freshness and excitement as their previous records. To me, it sounds quite self indulgent, and laborious to listen too. The way Jay is here, it seems this was quite a personal record for him, and it sounds like it's his stamp all over this record. Hopefully they'll go back to their fast, in-and-out recording process in the future. And hopefully Jay will leave politics alone in the future, lol.
Thanks that's very kind of you currently trying to push the channel so really appreciate it, if you fancy clicking subscribe and giving it a share that'd be awesome
I, for one, have no trouble whatsoever "digesting" anything Rival Sons puts out. If anything, some of the newer tracks require multiple listens before they truly take root. But man, when they take root...this is certainly some of their best stuff, which SHOULD be expected. Jay's lyrics are phenomenal, and the delivery is stunning per usual.
Love how Jay is both one of the quintessential vocalist/songwriters of this age, and at the same time, just a normal dude and family man FaceTiming an interview from the car with his kid’s safety seat in the back. That’s somehow super badass to me. That he’s not worried about portraying or maintaining some kind of “rock star” persona. Rival Sons are the best!!🤘
I was like you lee, intrigued how the lads were going to sound as a two piece. I have been totally blown away by how good they have been since. One of the best live bands I’ve ever seen. ✌️
Great interview! A documentary would be great sharing the life on the road. Living your truth with regards to the road you want to travel is truly an inspiration. .Looking forward to the new album in 2024🖤⭐💯
"Darkfighter" is Rival Son's Best album. An excellent collection of songs that fit a loose theme. Waiting to see if "Lightbringer" provides as close as the same dynamic in its direction. I definitely think I "...will sit with..." and treasure 'Darkfighter" for years to come.
Love the album. But COVID was overblown and grossly mishandled in the US and kids that had to stay out of school for two years will never catch up and are behind for life. Not conspiracy theories in many cases facts
Cheers for doing this mate. Been a fan of VM's since they supported skunk anansi and got pretty ,much everything they've done. Ally and Dan are genuinely nice guys and I;ve had the pleasure of meeting them a couple of times. They even take the time to respond to social media posts and emails which so many bands don't. Can't get to this tour as no where close to me but hopefully next time. Great video mate. I've subbed. Jason
Your video is very beautiful. I like it a lot. I have been trying to talk to you for a long time. I am waiting for your response. Please give me a chance to talk to you.,
Had the pleasure of meeting Ryan recently at the Jack broadbent and Mike dawes gig, such a nice charming guy, really love the direction he has taken the podcast in, it really has gone from strength to strength! He should be on planet rock! he does far better interviews!
Great interview Lee. VHB are (imo) the best band of the last 20 years - every album has a different feel but still unmistakably VHB - from the insular feel of Nine Lives to the driving rock of New Day Rising, the bombast of War Is Over to the haunting Red Alert. I was lucky enough to make 5 of the just completed shows in the UK and they got better and better each night - as did Ethyrfield - what a find they are
