Just sore one of there old "Jeff killed John" live gigs on here....im glad they desided to turn into bullet for my valintine there MUCH better. In my opinion.
I'm really not a fan of heavy metal, but A7X has a soft spot in my heart. There's something warm in their music. And if Synyster Gates isn't one of the best guitarists ever, I don't know who is. I'm talking on par with Hendrix. And his "solo" in Bat Country with Zacky V. is absolutely insane.
It doesnt matter who you side with in this eternal debate of whether Syn is "good" or not, there is only one thing that qualifies him as one of the best guitarists of this generation: the fact that his persona, playing, and artistry have inspired millions of people, paved the way for respectable metal music in today's garbage music industry, and besides all this, the guy just upheld guitar's legacy as "the cool instrument." This man MADE me wanna play a guitar, and that is reason enough...
its a shame that they r what they r now... i wish they would have kept there spirit back in 2006... i understand though that matt has to take a step back due to his tonsillis taken out and there for being vurnerable to health issues
guthrie is your favorite of all time? nice to know. act all clever? how, like how u tried to act clever talking about "just cause gates isnt a bluesy guitar player who makes jizz face doesnt mean he lacks emotion", that kind of clever? in all seriousness, it isnt about being clever, its pretty much true that govan is leagues ahead of mr. gates. Unique style? eh! maybe its cause i've heard many guitarists from many corners of rock and metal, but i dont see whats so unqiue about gates.
seriously, thumbs down on kungfudragon99's comment for all the equally butthurt morons who gave a thumbs up. the guy roccatrazer never made any mention of blues guitarists anywhere in his comment yet mr. kungfu jumped on the defense and then tries to diss on old school rock guitaring. Its clear that him (and all the 11 ppl who agreed with him) got into way too many "classic rock guitarists vs modern guitarists" arguements. Hilarious lol

Dude, guthrie govan, who is far more technically advanced of a guitar player than gates, has much more emotion than gates. There are tons of non-bluesy guitarists who are less boring, more creative and exhibits more emotion than gates IMHO. Syn is good, but not great. Sorry.
I don't know man ... He's a beast when it comes to technique ... But it's not just about your skills and your emotion but your style of playing ... I mean take a look on slayer for example and Megadeth ... it's not just how well how fast you play but also what you play
