How long does this rhyzotomy last before the nerve grows back and how does this differ from an ablation??

If you’re already fused C3 - C6 are these surgical options still available if the neck muscles are still in guard mode because of a disc issue encroaching upon the spinal area/ cord either above or below the fusion?

I have had 5 back surgeries on L4-5-S1 both anterior and posterior and now I have developed flat back and it’s looking like I’m going to need a surgery to fix that but this time they’re going up to L2-L3 down to S1 to fix my back pain and numbness and tingling down my left left and over to my right side 🥹🥹🥹

I have persistant sciatica for 11 months with no improvement, despite PT. I am overally a healthy, previously active 19 yo male.

Hi Doctor. I have l4-l5 disc degenerative disease. Have been offered fusion but declined. Have been using voltarin anti inflammatory meds for 18 months. Have had nerve ablation done by pain Doctor which gave me 2 days full pain relief. Pain Doctor now wants to do more ablation deeper into disc area as I understand. What do you think ?

This is not common and the doctors who actually specialise in orthobiologics are highly trained in what they do. Unfortunately the patient went to the wrong doctor. Only go to reputable specialist in this field.

As a responsible, Pain Management MD , I always look at the MRI prior to any injection to note any level of critical stenosis. It could be a medial branch or facet block to treat axial pain prior to you doing a multilevel fusion. It’s always important to rule out mechanically, mediate neck, pain rather than disc related neck pain. And yes, I would never inject Medrol into the cervical spine instead the better choice is dexamethasone preservative free, which is non-particulate

Laser procedure? Can you provide proof of disc health before and after the procedure? I’ve ask my orthopedic doctor about that option and was told it’s a scam that doesn’t work. I’d love to be proven wrong. I was scheduled for a fusion and double disc replacement but I chickened out. I feel like there are better alternatives.
