Am I the only one who finds Anthony so annoying??!! I couldn't stand him ( and Simon) in season 1 and I was hoping for that to change in season 2 but he annoys the hell out of me!!

Devi beat your son's debate team despite being at a *massive* disadvantage (your son's debate team had full-time paid paralegals doing thorough professional-level research while Devi's team had *nothing* but their intuition to go off of), Devi was top of her class and got accepted and invited *on a full-ride scholarship* to attend one of the nation's top gifted schools for her senior year (all of this while going to a public school, unlike Des who goes to a very rich private school that his mom shells out god-knows-how-much to send him to), and she did this all *despite* the death of her father (which she had to witness *live* as it happened), losing all feeling in her legs for *several months,* and suffering from severe PTSD and depression ever since! And I'm not just saying that to "own" Rhyah - that's actually a main message here and the *real* reason Rhyah hates Devi, is constantly trying to control Nalani, and constantly trash-talks Devi behind her back while being *too afraid* to admit it out in the open. Simply put, Rhyah's *actual* problem with Devi is that Devi is outperforming her son in *every* way, and doing so *despite* the massive privilege she has gifted her son and *despite* suffering things *she* would never survive as an *adult* (and she *certainly* hasn't raised her son to beat such adversity)! Rhyah sees Devi and it makes *herself* feel like a failure for how she's raised Des (which is ridiculous! Des has actually accomplished quite a bit. Yes, he was privileged, but his privilege didn't guarantee him anything, and he still made quite a bit out of his situation)! *That* is why she is so desperate to hide her true feelings about Devi! *That* is why she tells Devi "you're strong, you've got this" to her face while calling her crazy and unstable behind her back! *That* is why she was clearly very embarrassed when her son, in front of Nalani, straight up exposed her and said, "Just admit it," and gave her nowhere to hide. *That* is why (I didn't notice this until later) she essentially *switches* her "worry" (when she first found out Devi and Des were dating, she berated Des for "how this will affect" Devi and Nalani) before now claiming *the opposite!* Simply put, this *never* had *anything* to do with anyone being distracted or Des's future. No, simply put, the moment Rhyah say Devi in the bathroom suffering a clear and obvious episode of PTSD, it reminded her of how incredible it was that Devi was outperforming her son given all the obstacles she had faced, and that *infuriated* her! So she retaliated and told her son to break up with Devi to "feel superior" again! It was abusive and disgusting! And to be clear, Des is *also* a target of Rhyah's abuse in all of this! He's a kid, he's still figuring this world out, and he clearly had no idea how to react when his mom started acting abusive and telling him to break up with his girlfriend against his wishes! People blame Des for "not standing up" to his mom, but that just takes blame away from *Rhyah* who is the *adult* and *actually doing* the abusive thing here (you're asking a kid to stop an adult from being abusive - sorry, but *no* kid should be put in a situation where they have to in the first place, and if ever in that position, the *adult* who put them *into* said situation is to blame)! I refuse to take blame away from the abusive adult, so I'm giving *100%* of the blame to Rhyah! But in short: Rhyah is jealous of Devi and Nalani! Point blank! That's the *real* reason she's being abusive here!
What I always liked about Violet is that she may be pushing to get her children married but she doesn't want them to get married to the first person they dance with or meet. She wants them to marry for love so they will be their happiest they can be in life and when she as a mother doesn't sence true love she doesn't really try to hide her sceptics about them. The entire time Daphne was with The Prince, Violet seemed content and pleased but not happy and always mentioned how Daphne was with Simon and how that was love. When Anthony kept mentioning moving things on with Edwina she would always have this unsure look on her face.
One of my favourite parts of the second series was when they arrived at Lady Danbury's ball and Violet loudly announced that Anthony was finally looking to marry this year, then cheerily left him to be swarmed by debutantes.
