Nedra also did the lead on the Wah Watusi, which was credited to the Crystals, back in ‘63.

This recording really shows to any musician why they were so great. Peak pop songwriting, peak performance. Not so good singing, is the only flaw.

I saw them many times at Maxwell's (they were always opening for some flavor of the moment). Always accepted them with bemusement at the time. Have much better appreciation now, nearly 40 years later.

Estelle really brings a sweetness to this song. I particularly love the way she sings the word "Rain". She makes the song her own rather than trying to emulate Ronnie.

They're all playing great but the amazing thing about this performance is that it shows the song at its heart is just the complete opposite sentiment as to the one that's made on the "Pleased to meet me" version. The one that made it to vinyl is a super-catchy but kind of typical road song, feeling lonely for someone while away touring. It's great for what it is, very romantic. But this version here is all sarcasm. He can't wait......until it's over. It's brilliant stuff.

Yes I agree. They all 3 had great voices. This was a time when you had to have real talent. There was nothing helping there voices sound better. Like how artist have autotune today. You either sounded great or you sucked. And the Ronettes sounded awesome!!!
