I saw them many times at Maxwell's (they were always opening for some flavor of the moment). Always accepted them with bemusement at the time. Have much better appreciation now, nearly 40 years later.
So much diversity. And talent of these singers.ost of them wrote their. Songss. Native Indian Mexican american. Cant compare. They put their into it. Anf it came out in the songs they. Sang
WOW, this is such a great vocal by Estelle! I never knew she had such pipes, and I love the way she embellishes the melody and sings with such soul! What a great find!
I've seen a pic of her taken in 2017. It was on the ig page of a relative of theirs..also a few pics of Estelle from probably the late 70's or early 80's..her daughter was in one pic she looked to be no more then 4 yrs old at the time.
I love love every version of this song I have ever heard from the Mats...especially the one on &%#@ Hits the Fans. Every incarnation of this song has such amazing depth and character.
Makes you wonder at their regular concerts what the set lists were aside from their hits. And obviously what leads did Nedra and Estelle regularly do on the road.
Estelle really brings a sweetness to this song. I particularly love the way she sings the word "Rain". She makes the song her own rather than trying to emulate Ronnie.
La verdad las tres cantantes tenían para voz líder en las canciones , a pesar de la limitante de la grabación se nota una excelente voz la de Stelle Bennett
They're all playing great but the amazing thing about this performance is that it shows the song at its heart is just the complete opposite sentiment as to the one that's made on the "Pleased to meet me" version. The one that made it to vinyl is a super-catchy but kind of typical road song, feeling lonely for someone while away touring. It's great for what it is, very romantic. But this version here is all sarcasm. He can't wait......until it's over. It's brilliant stuff.
Estelle & Nedra sounded great live. Elaine who was related to the girls just did background. Elaine was also absolutely gorgeous from the pictures I have seen online. I wish I could find more information about her, like if she still living. I guess this tour was the biggest thing Elaine did. How great for her. Memories to last a lifetime!!!
Yes I agree. They all 3 had great voices. This was a time when you had to have real talent. There was nothing helping there voices sound better. Like how artist have autotune today. You either sounded great or you sucked. And the Ronettes sounded awesome!!!
