Lol😅, you're funny, I'm always joking with box store people too😅 my hubby is the kind of person who is focused on a mission but I like to talk to people. We found out this guy in the big blue store in Medicine Hat, that it was his anniversary of 10yrs working there, so we went and bought him a cake and took it back to him and boy was he suprised...it was so fun!! You could tell he was a hard worker and took the time to pick out the best lumber for us! We just bought lumber from the cull pile in Oyen and what a deal we got! Oh and I just got new tires for the Beachcomber B-15, and a new propane regulator, oh how I love that little furnace in it! Been camped off grid for 2months in it now and trying to decide what to do with the wiring, as it is not set up to run off the battery?!? And the electric brakes are not working either. I hope it is a simple fix but it may be a can of worms, we shal see. It is what it is as you say so often. Have a great week!!!🙋🛻🇨🇦❤️‼️
wow 10 years in retail. i did my fair share if retail work it helps to have a sense of humor. A 12 volt system is not overly complicated. a couple of batteries with a 3000 watt inverter to run you 110 powered. as for the trailer's brakes if the beachcomber is wired for then then there should be pigtails on the back side of the hubs if not parts me be a issue to up grade an axle change maybe the answer? mine did not work and I did not look into them. however i would recommend them if possible items one step at a time and you will get the beachcomber fixed up. you have a great weekend and happy adventures
yes i installed the trailer at a 90degree angle there is a hard rubber rod? in the silver spring the allows the trailer to "bend" to follow straight. no issues pulling even with weight in the trailer
Good update, yes water is always an issue. There is a crack on the roof of my beachcomber, arg!!!! I got some silicone on it for now but will need to do some fiberglass repair, prob take windows out and reinstall too. I really was not prepared for this amount of repairs...😂 Ya live and learn!
Well, sounds like the move went down....I just orderedtires/rims for my Beachcomber B-15, from Princess Auto, I called Medicine Hat P A and they weren't in stock so they said order them on line and we will give you a free shipping coupon! 🎉so I ordered 3(1 spare) and coming in less than a week, 4days! I have been in it for 2 weeks, camping off grid, have fridge, stove & furnace all set on propane. DC not working prob dead battery. Been rainey here near Oyen, and trailer seems to have no leaks🎉 Im waiting to hear more about the Jayco. So will stay tuned, I think I missed a few video, will have to watch them.
Hi🙋♀️🛻🇨🇦‼️I would have chose to fix for 3-5 yr usage. I have been talking to the gal whose sold me the Beachcomber B-15, and its sounds really good, new frame, painted inside, new roof vent, dry as a bone inside and pictures of under the seats looks like no mold but I will know by next friday when I get there. I think I made a new friend with buying her trailer, funny how God works like that. And Watrous SK is only 4hrs away from Empress, my town. (There are 3 campgrounds in this town, 2 owned by town and one owned privately) We really enjoy Alberta and look forward to finding all the camping around us! My fav is 20 minutes away called Sandy Point, right on the River! We r travelling right now, went to usa, to Yuma Arizona area, then back up to Vancouver Island to let the rest of Canada thaw out😂, but Im leaving shortly to drive and get my trailer, hubby will stay here and continue camping. And I will prob join him with the new trailer towed by my 4cyl suv. I feel like a kid getting a new toy😂 that is IF it's as good as she says. We fit everything we own in a 20ft cube uhaul van and moved last year. I had lived a 20 mile radius all my life. I had 10k worth of stained glass and sold 70% for pennys. Did give some away too! But we got it all done and are in a new chapter of our life now. I like your videos bcuz you are very articulate with speaking. 👍‼️
Good morning. Yes was not a easy choice. I had planned to repair the jayco. I had purchased everything I needed to complete the job and had figured out how to make it work for my short term needs. However I had another offer come up that fits my long term needs better. The jayco is not abandoned it does live on. And could still be put back on the road. You should make a video of the road trip to pick up your beachcomber. Take lots of photos. And make many memories. I am glad you found one in decent surviving shape. I have often thought about wintering in a warmer climate. I don’t enjoy the cold winter like I once did. There are parts of Alberta the look almost liveable in the winter. I live in a cold zone along the Alberta Saskatchewan border and I think the cold weather slows or stalls and stays here for longer. Thanks for your comments and have a great day.
So glad you found some helping hands! Yes you are spot on, we need people in our life to bounce ideas off!! I spent 50yrs of my life very lonely. I had to disown my family due to abuse and so when I started to have kids, I tried very hard to be the Mom I never had but the kind that every child should have!
For years I did things alone. I would turn down help and would move my self alone or complete heavy jobs alone. After years of working heavy jobs I have learned that sometimes asking for help benefits me. My strength has changed and my body is not what it once was. I finally have come to the conclusion that asking for help is worth it. Some times in life we have to go at it alone sometimes in life we are the only dependable ones. Sometimes we do things to our bodies that we may pay for in the long term future. Thanks for the comments. Have a great day.
So it sounds like this happened last year? so hope we get an update as to how its going now! We just moved from BC to AB, and we had a few friends who were down on their luck at various times, and we let them stay on our property in their rv to help get back on their feet. But the city started getting nasty saying we would get a $10,000 fine for letting people do that!!! Thats why we moved, that and all the crime. Now we have a bigger yard in a small 150people town, but it gets -40🥶, so dont think too many people would live in an rv in that kind of weather!! And we have a crazy neighbor now, who tries to tell us what we can do on our own property, ya, thats gonna fly 😂😂😂 we just ignore him now.
Yes my vlogs and videos are a bit behind I have had a big change happen and I wanted to be prepared. For the worst case scenario. This vlog would have been filmed in late June? 2023. Since then I have made many changes to take back my life and to start on a path that will rebuild my future. I have had a few camping adventures and fall road trips the winter was a bit claustrophobic but now in the spring of 2024 I have just returned from a small road trip adventure. This summer I start my project build and it will be completed in 3-5 years (based on budget) after that will be the start to a new journey. I have been told that bc can be a bit a bit of a headache with the government. A beautiful breathtaking province and a mild climate is great for year round camping. Alberta has its beauty and the summers are warm but yes the -40 winters are brutal. My town I live in gets the cold from Saskatchewan and Alberta and the cold fronts last for longer durations. There are parts of Alberta that look survivable in the winter months with some preparation. The drawback of a extremely small town is those who think they own the town and try to make you feel uncomfortable. Just keep living your life and smiling it will drive your neighbour crazy. Thanks for all your comments and questions.
My wiring had a 4 flat. Not sure if that was factory. Or some kind of patch job. I don’t believe it had trailer brakes if it did they did not work. My trailer was a wet trailer due to water leaking I managed to pull it with a 4 cylinder truck.
Bondo work is not that hard. I would recommend some practice. Because it can snowball. The guy that purchased it from me rebuilt it. He send me photos it looked great behind his vintage chevy. unfortunately I lost all the photos in my computer crash. I keep checking out local car shows hoping to find it again.
Hindsight this trailer was hurting before I purchased it. However I thought I had the leak fixed but I guess there were many more. I had plans to be build the trailer give it a custom touch to fit my needs. The costs quickly snow balled. My frame was cracked by the spring mounts and the tongue was stressed by the previous owner. I put the trailer in storage and it had gotten worse. In the mean time I had a work place accident and my life changed. I had a lot of documentation on the trailer with the wood dimensions and roof suppers and wall panels measurements. I believe the online forms are still active of one where to dig deep enough in the corners of the internet. Once my life settled I purchased an enclosed trailer and built it out used it until last year sold it and I am about to start my second enclosed build this spring once the snow is gone. I appreciate your comments and subscription. And good luck with you beachcomber may it bring you many years of enjoyment.
Hey, just bought a Beachcomber B-15 and thought I'd look up one on youtube and boom...saw the Alberta flag and instantly subscribed! I just moved to AB from BC a year ago. I also own another Canadian built trailer called Taylor Coach. Which took 3yrs of waiting for, but well worth it! Anyhoo, Im about to binge watch your trailer videos🙋♀️🛻🇨🇦❤️‼️
They are an interesting trailer. Could be even called rare. I have only come across 5 of them since most are in rough shape or have been turned in to ice fishing sharks or toy haulers.
Why is it at a 45 though looks like you’ll only be able to go left! I just bought a trailer and tried using it today for my boys but it sits at a 45 like this so I figured that was wrong and ordered the other coupler that is at a 45. Is it supposed to be this way?
I found the same one today picked up the street sold it for $55 not one issue with it came with all the wires all the plugs everything the thing looks brand new
I always ran these cameras from aa batteries. However in a retail setting they had a self contained power supply built in while on display. If you can find one of these cameras they are a good tough camera for what they are.
I've been using Vista print for years, i use them on all my vehicles.I use the 12*12 size on my tinted windows on the outside and where i live in Florida the Brutal sun doesn't discolor them at all
Conveniently the Big box store here does not sell the valve seal replacement, you have to buy the whole valve and then dispose of the old one. Not good for the environment. Thanks for the tip, you just saved me a ton of time and some money.
Had the same issue. Used a rubber mallet to adjust the shoes around by margins, then used the dial to either tighten or loosen. Drum was going over the shoes, but not completely. Then I just used the rubber mallet to bang it all the way over the shoes. Tested the brakes afterwards, worked just fine. This replacement drove me nuts FYI. Lol! Good luck everyone!
Mechanical issues can be frustrating. Trouble shooting them yourself can be frustrating. This saved me the loss of the truck and a tow bill and a shop bill. It may not work for everyone
I am not experienced with all printers but this was one of the better ones to change. The only draw back would be the cost of the refills. For me the use of a copy print center saved me waisting money on replacement inks. Thanks for the comment
You are welcome. That’s was part of the reason why I started my channel. To help show others how easy simple maintenance can be. Thanks for your comment.
Nothing much eh. Just finish a poutine and now I am going for a ride on my moose while drinking maple syrup. Thanks for your comment and have a great day.
Thanks for this video, my Dad left me one, and the time has come to use it It's been years since I helped him put it together (and take it apart). I needed this refresher. 😊
thanks for the comment. this drywall lift was a very handy tool. a bit heavy and could be dangerous if not used correctly. but well worth the setup and money
Since the front fork has a disc break aparatus on it shouldn't matter what size rim you install, just saying. The back tire looks smaller than a 29, more like a 26, thinking if you can move the height of the rear pinch style breaks down to work with that tire and install a 26 inch front tire which are way more common that already has a disc on it then you could be in business because then it don't matter what size the front tire is if it has a disc for disc breaks on it, same with the rear. A 29 inch frame is way more rare and should sell for more money to a tall person, providing the pedals don't hit the ground because of frame being dropped down too low to ground with the smaller tires.
