I agree, I actually wonder whether I could recreate it, if it would act the same... I choose my ink pen combos based on the nib and ink consistency as much as color, so I'm not that big on creating a palette, but it's fun nonetheless!
@@hanasonder Before my Twsbi was like that too😅, after a while I was trying to clean it with paper and pencil after some try the paper got stuck in the inner cap and came out with it, so I thought that with an rubber band it would be easier and it ended up working. I would also like to thank you for your contribution to the fountain pen community😄
@@1boscolucas I just put my journal online, thank you for sharing the method and taking the time to talk to me about it. I often shy away from maintenance work when it starts to feel overwhelming, so this is a great way to give it an aspect of fun and want to do it :)
Loved the video as always! This is a beautiful Pelikan, but if the cap was replaced it’s a mystery! I have my new vintage Pelikan 140 inked and it looks exactly like yours (it’s on RU-vid in my last currently inked). It might also be interesting if you give the measurements, length? These old nibs are fantastic! I just checked, the cap of my oldest 400 does not fit.
There are a few that look alike from my reading into vintage Pelikan sources, but I had it written down somewhere together with the changes made to it, so I will check about that cap too. It's a matter of taking some time to dig and I really should do that! I love my Pelikan too, the nib really is an experience :)
I made some footage in there, planning upload them at some point. And I just sent out mail for you, but in the next one, I'll make sure I include the seal!
I’m so glad you picked up the scissors, I was having anxiety the sticker wasn’t going to make it 😅 I love seeing all of the pretty ephemera and your new wax seal !
Nice to hear from you here. Congratulations on your book!!! The new pen is so nice; I actually saw one in person yesterday at the St. Louis Pen Show. What a thoughtful and generous gift, as well as the beautiful TN. ❤
Depending on where you are, I would get Hobonichi notebooks from JetPens (US), Stilo&Stile (EU) or their website 1101 - I believe you are asking about that
Hi, Hana! I really enjoyed your video…you have a very lovely spirit that comes through, and puts the viewer at ease. I totally agree with your remarks about the paper choice being a huge factor in the writing experience. It’s the same for me. It was very interesting learning about your fountain pen journey! ✍🏻 Thank you! Meline
Hi Meline, thank you for taking the time to write and for your lovely words. I am glad you found my story interesting. I hope you are having a great day! Hana
I really enjoyed this video, you are very good in-front of the camera and I love your genuine and thoughtful approach to fountain pen enjoyment. I am not sure that I have tried Diamine Ochre, it looks so lovely and warm, like an aged manuscript - especially in your beautiful handwriting. Thanks so much for sharing :)
@@hanasonder thank you, I’m nervous! But I’ve been convinced to do another one. I assume it gets easier with time? LOL. I forgot to mention, I absolutely adore Chic Sparrow and have a collection of those as well. I also watch Adventure Denali, they are so calming to listen to! Happy to have found your channel and subscribed.
Most excellent video. I love the use of props. It was missing in last years versions. I too am in it for the pens, and love blue inks too, but I like dark blues, navy, blue-black. How nice to have inherited pens from your father, and to get your grail as well. How wonderfully fortunate for that to have worked out that way. It is a Pelikan 140?? It looks like it, and is a great pen.
I am glad you enjoyed the video, and thank you for letting me know. The cap I got with the Pelikan says 120, I understand 120's are mainly solid color though so it is possible it may have been a case of switched caps by the former owner as 120 and 140 are so similar
You have so many great journals but I love your little collection of Leuchtturms with the Fig & Bean stickers, and I learned a new word today "paginated" 😉 Is your new green journal the Matcha color from CS ? Hope your feeling better soon !
The combination of pocket Leuchtturms with F&B stickers was my favorite, I agree with you :) It's from the Artist collection, Gastaldi. The line where Giovanni was very popular, I was in two minds which of them to get. I keep saying Gilio because I mix up all those Italian names 😅
The Leuchtturm ones look so cute with the stickers on the covers. 💛 You’ve done well with your five year journal so far it looks like…that’s something I’m not consistent with at all. This was fun to see! Thanks for showing your journal style and notebooks. Oh! And your green new journal cover is gorgeous. I like your video style-keep it up. You don’t have to have a certain visual appeal. I prefer authentic and natural and you have a very pleasant manner.
I love my new cover! Of course the color is right up your alley, I just noticed that, hehe. The five year is frustrating when I skip a day and sometimes it's messy or I have to back journal a few days, but I'm determined to finish it. But if I ever get one again it will be a Midori door one, this one is just too bulky. It's been more difficult finding the time to film, but I'm not planning on stopping yet 😁
I enjoy hearing about journaling. Cafe Notes were not on my radar, now I want to check it out. I hear you about wanting to journal a certain way but not having it fit your lifestyle. I want to be a daily sort of person and I am doing it (mostly) but I really would like a Mon through Fri with no weekends. I don't feel like having those pages taunting me that I have no plans.😂
This was lovely to watch, yes, all the way to the end! I once won a cafe notebook at a pen club meeting, but I’m saving it, it’s so precious. Also I write large, so… I hope you’ll continue making videos, how about a currently inked? I am intrigued by your vintage Pelikan there in the front of the frame. I’m German, living in the us and whenever I visit Germany I bring pens from fleamarkets or eBay Kleinanzeigen! 🌸🙌🏻🖋✍️💕
I might make a currently inked, it's high time I cleaned and reinked my pens. Great idea! The Pelikan was a gift from my father after he inherited it from a deceased relative, a very special pen. I'm glad you noticed. Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment 😊🌼
@@hanasonder that is a special pen! I got vintage Kawecos from my dad, that I’m especially attached to… yes, I’ll be on the lookout for your video(subscribed anyways!) 👍🏻💗
Lovely video. Have you been tempted by a Montblanc from the Meisterstueck line? (The 146-149?) If you find them used from a reputable dealer, they are not too out of reach in terms of cost. And they write divinely--in some ways, they're the only fountain pens you'll ever need. Only the Pilot Custom 823 compares. If I had to reduce my pens to two, I would keep the Montblanc 149 and the Pilot Custom 823. In my experience, there are simply no better pens. (Maybe I'd also keep a cheap Kaweco to go hiking or something like that where a finer pen might be at risk.) I am afraid of becoming a collector--it would distract me from writing. Same with inks. There are so many out there. I don't want to amass bottles and bottles of eccentric inks. So, I keep to the basics and to brands that are easily obtainable around the world. Montblanc Royal Blue is my first choice. The Diamines are good and gradually becoming more widely available. Parker Quink Blue is rarely cited, but it is excellent and, again, easily obtainable.
I love seeing Montblancs and Pilot Custom 823 naturally. They have a sleek look, classic and comfortable, but it's not at the top of my list at the moment. Partially because I've never written with it that I know. And I agree, it's not wanting to have a collection of pens I'm not using. The same goes for inks, though blue's are not my favorite, they remind me of school days when all the stationery was in navy blue shades and I just have a resistance towards blues now. Do you generally prefer European made pens? Thank you for an interesting comment!
@@hanasonder At present, I love European pens such as Montblanc and Pelikan. I like the look of Conway Stewart (British), but they use Jowo nibs, not in-house, and for that reason I find them very overpriced. Aurora from Italy also makes lovely pens. American pens used to be great--the original Sheaffer and Parker were innovative and extraordinary. But they are no longer made in the USA and are a ghost of what they once were. (The recently reintroduced Parker 51--made in China, not sure--is the worst pen I have ever tried.) If you can ever acquire a Sheaffer made before 2000, from the factory in Fort Madison, Iowa, you will love the incredible in-laid nibs. But that's the past. Esterbrooks used to be American as well; now it is simply a brand name stuck onto pens using Jowo nibs. As for ink--Sheaffer also made its own ink, called Skrip. Again, no longer produced in America, if at all. I know what you mean about blue ink and the school association; I've now reached an age where I think back nostalgically about my school days, even if in reality they were hell. (Smile.) I hope that you someday get to try a Montblanc 149 pen, and a Plot 823. Not everyone loves the same things, but I am willing to bet that you will be impressed. Thank you. I love your channel.
@@user-qj4dx4fc3n Pelikan's are absolutely classic for a reason, I also hope I get to try Pilot Custom 823 as everyone is always talking about how great they are, but now I'll keep an eye out for Montblanc 149 as well! Shaeffer and Parker were a synonym for good quality pens when I was learning to write, I wasn't aware their quality dropped since the 2000's, I'll be mindful of that. Kaweco Sports are work horses and they just look nicer than a Twsby Eco or a Lamy Safari to me. I appreciate your comments, thank you to you too!
@@user-qj4dx4fc3n I too would keep my MB, and Pelikans, and Deltas, and Watermans, but above all I'll keep my OMAS. I will pass the rest down, but the OMAS is coming with me.
@@ironmic9244 I have to agree with your love of OMAS. I have two old-style Ogivas. They write beautifully. The nibs are indescribable, soft, exquisite. BUT--I find these pens to be on the delicate side. They are not for using out in the field. I only use them at my desk.
Enjoyed your video & I love my brass kaweco too but I always have grey ink in it & I just ordered the bronze kaweco last week from cult pens as it’s been on my wish list for the longest time & I’m looking forward to receiving it ♥️🖋️
This was a really enjoyable watch. You mentioned feeling out of your comfort zone with the format, but I thought you did a fantastic job! And I 100% agree with you about paper being so important to the writing process. I might be willing to jot notes on whatever, but if I'm sitting down to journal or write a letter, I need it to be an enjoyable experience all the way around. Thank you for sharing with us!
You are very kind. I absolutely agree, in journaling and letter writing the right tools are a big part of the experience. Thank you for watching and leaving a comment!
What a lovely video. I’m so glad you decided to join the 8penquestions this year! I’m a big fan of AdventureDenali’s channel and agree her videos are very comforting. It’s very sweet that your holy grail pen found you, and you gave me some food for thought about letting the paper play a role in the pen that you choose to write with. 🥰
I am happy people are reacting to the Pelikan story in the same way I did it's really special. And I do have a little bit of a paper fixation I suppose! Thank you for your comment :)
How wonderful to see you! I enjoyed your video and appreciate how you are content with the things you have, not necessarily just wanting stuff just to have it. ❤
I enjoyed hearing about your pen journey. You really captured the essence of how paper selection affects the writing experience. Question: do you incorporate fountain pen friendly paper in your junk journal at all?
This was my first attempt at making a junk journal and I thought mostly about storing all the scraps, tickets and paper notes. If I were making it now I would make several different choices, but at that time I just wanted to use up the paper supplies I had. In short no, not this time, but next time for sure!
Yay! A Hana video! So nice to see your face! I loved hearing all of your answers to the questions. I want to send you more samples when my life is less chaos.
It was interesting seeing not much has changed, but there are also some answers I feel I'd answer more coherently now after watching others answer. I hope things feel only better and better Shauna, always a pleasure hearing from you!
Hi Hana , your genuine love for writing and journaling is so apparent in this video ❤ I love that you have a minimalist mindsight to what you own and collect ( I have maximalist tendencies that I need to work on 😂) It's neat how your two favorite colors (ancient copper and avocado ) happen to reflect the landscape of Arizona 😉
Thank you, it's good to hear that it translates, my writing is not creative or interesting, but the act itself has meant a lot to me for a while now. No shame in maximalism, as long as you feel good in your choices it's all good! 😁
