We just bought a new 1000 Deluxe. First thing I did was order a Throttle Maxx. Your mod looks to do the same thing but I just couldn't Jerry Rigg a brand new $20K machine.
If you’re using iPhone max models the MagView magnet isn’t strong enough to hold them correctly. Contacted customer service zero response. Just ordered PS setup. Hopefully better experience.
5-6 ft of snow?? February on a crust. Try that with 6' of powder. Plus wearing a anti-gun, anti-hunting, anti-oil/gas/coal hat. I will be blocking this bull butter.
My hunting group uses a mixture of Polaris rzrs and Honda pioneers, all of us have tracks, our machines are loaded with gear, and also our hounds, and we regularly run through 3 to 4ft of snow, sometimes powder, sometimes wet/fluffy snow. When we go out just to play around we can rip through 5 ish feet of snow. It's harder on the machines but we usually don't have many issues. Tracked machines are super capable.
Hey, thanks for the pioneer videos they have been extremely helpful! I noticed in the background of this video that you have a chainsaw holder of some sort? Can you give me a product name and how you like it? Thanks again!
Hey! Thank you!!! Nice comments are greatly appreciated. The chainsaw mount was a Hornet bought from Side by Side Stuff. Super expensive!! Way too much! But, it worked great. We cut trails open on most trips, so easy chainsaw access, then storage was critical. Getting saw in and it was a 5 second affair. Awesome! I will say Two years in, the bolt from the top roll bar mount worked loose and fell out!! The saw rotated 180 degrees. Pointing down. Luckily, I had screwed in the t-nut screws on the bar and they held!!!! Otherwise saw would be gone. Always check your shit and I would loctite everything in the future. Thanks again!
Thanks for the great review. Did you find the MagView cover got in your way when you were looking through your scope, especially for a prolonged time? Can you easily move the attachment on the scope’s eyepiece so you can switch the direction of your phone between portrait & landscape mode?
I have not noticed the flip cap in the way at all when I am using the spotting scope without the phone. And yes, it is so easy to remove and replace your phone. Basically, you have your camera on and as you move closer to the scope you can see the image on your screen. First as a tiny fit and then larger as you get closer. Just keep the image in the center of your screen and when you get close enough the magnets grab it and your set. Pull it off, change settings and right back on in seconds. I love it.
Unfortunately, I am not sure. My phone appears to have two lenses but I have never paid attention to how or when they work. Sorry that’s no help, but thank you for watching.
It looks like Phone Skope has a universal phone case (it's a clamp) that would be a solution to multiple different phones. The Magview does seem simple and interesting but I stopped using magnet attachments for my phones as I feel that slowly over time they almost decrease battery life. Thanks for the review!
I did this storage idea on my pioneer and after a few rides, the push button latches were near impossible to function. The grit and dirt from the trails has the buttons nearly inoperable. Serious pain the the neck there on afterwards. But. Huge storage area and seemingly a good idea.
I was just out yesterday in some super sugary and nasty snow. Did about 20 miles and it was slow going, but great. The tracks are simply amazing machines. Thanks for watching!
When I popped out the original black tabs, there is nothing but a hole in the plastic. Nothing for the screw to screw into. Did you insert anything into the hole or is there something there for the screw to screw into?
I am not sure what black tabs you are referring to. On mine, the panels were held in with screws. You unscrew the panel, then screw post into the hole. Drill out the panel and insert the snap button. No black tab. Is yours a newer year? Wondering if they changed something. Sorry I am not more help.
My 2022 Pioneer 1000-5 only had the plastic push tabs that hold the panels on. I used M6 rivet nuts and the rivet nut tool to give the ball/ bolt something to thread into. Once I got the ball/bolt set to the dept I need for the push button to latch on to it without a lot of play, I locked the ball/bolt into place from the inside with the nut that was provided with the ball/bolt. I used a pair of vice grip pliers to hold the end of the ball(applied enough pressure to grab it without tearing up the ball)while I tighten the nut up against the backside of the rivet nut. I also used loc-tite on the threads. Hope this makes since and works for you.
It is actually really easy. You just turn in your camera and as you approach you spotting scope , the picture shows up as a small dot on your phone. You just keep that centered on your screen as you move it toward scope until the magnet grabs it.
@@fishandsheds1771 I love the fit and finish of it. Really adds to the usability of the machine. Would I be correct in assuming that the posts are the 2” version vs the 4” version? I’m in Canada so I have a different eBay portal. The link you gave takes me to the US eBay site, but doesn’t reference the length of post. Can’t wait to tackle this project!
@@fishandsheds1771 Thanks for your help Greg. Big fan of the channel from what I’ve seen so far. Just bought a 2016 1000-5 Deluxe for a steal of a deal I could not refuse. What a beast!
I tried that and it worked with mine and held the phone but the hold was less than it is with the metal plate on the outside. I would assume the thickness of the case would make a difference too. My case is made of two layers and is over 1/8 inch thick. Hope that helps.
Once you throw on the tracks, the speedometer and odometer are no longer accurate. So a mpg is difficult, but what I can tell you is a can run a solid 7 hours on a tank of gas with the tracks on. I always carry an extra 5 gallons just in case, but have never had to use it to get back. It uses more gas when breaking fresh trail as well, so keep that in mind. Hope that helps!
I installed mine about a month ago. After about 2500 miles it started to overheat in low range, and in some high range, stress, situations. Kick on the dam override switch and I no longer go into limp mode. Good to see this video. Thank you.
Loctite is not needed on plastic panels but if it makes you feel better have at it lol. Put a piece of marine vinyl over the holes you cut out, only screw it down across the top, to create a “flap” any water/dirt that runs down behind the panel will not go in the hole this way.
I wired all switches with dash in place. You can fish all wires into slots through the area under hood. Just remove front hood to access battery compartment and you can reach all the way up to dash. Hope that helps.
Great video.....I am REALLY considering a set for my Pioneer 1000. My hunting property is THICK and the traction and floatation from tracks would really help!
Hey my new 2022 1000-5 didn't have screws holding the pannel. Has those crappy push plug plastic things. Now if I use a nuts on the studs the pannel hangs ofd the rig by a bit. Any ideas
Could you attach something(maybe a piece of sheet metal) on the inside of the with rivets or glue, then drill your hole and attach nuts? Or I think they make other fasteners designe for those holes-similar to the hood fasteners? Trying to picture what you have going. Too bad they went to the plastic push rivets.
@@fishandsheds1771 so the studs I have are just like yours. I got two nuts and two washers. One set inside and one outside to prevent it going in and out. But it makes the pannel hang off far. And look silly. I was thinking a just getting the threaded things you have. How do they attach?
Did my 2023 yesterday. Get some 6mm rivet nuts and a tool and add your own inserts. They fit perfectly and the stud threaded in and used one if the nuts on the backside to lock it in place.
Good vid . I don't have a Pioneer 1000 yet but when I do I will be ready to modify. When you run tracks do you mainly stay in low range or does the honda handle it in high?
Thank you! I run in high 95% of the time in high and it handles it easily. I only go to low on very steep inclines or places where pucker factor is high.
Hate my Honda Pioneer 1000 rattles everywhere, transmission sucks, motor is noisy, and is hot piece of junk . I was a Honda dealer for 52 years and they built the best not in this machine. Wondering why I’m not a Honda dealer anymore they terminated me as a dealer for running down BLM on my personal Facebook . I have a 22 can am defender limited and love it
