Mannnnnnnnn, I’m so jealous!!!! Been doing spreadsheets all day and you busting them my favorite way on Big G. Ugh lol I’m sure you made that guy’s day. That was cool. Good save on that rod going into the water. You are getting good at making these videos too. My boat is in the shop, but will see you in the grass mats soon dude!!! Thanks for the video
TVA & local wildlife resources in the past sprayed Guntersville lake. They danged near wiped the lake clean, fish floating everywhere. If the folks that live on the need to clear a path it should be by mechanical means ONLY. The residents are constantly sprayi g 24-D & Remedy weed killer on the grass, if they are caught there should be a very substantial fines. These chemicals WILL kill the fish and fishing as well!!
They was still getting big numbers, and quality bass from Guntersville lake before the grass. I learned to bass fish before the grass. I live in Morgan Co, and the Tennessee river here is getting over taken with the grass. I will not fish Guntersville no more, because the grass over heats my motor. Who ever said that eelgrass is native here on the Tennessee river system, needs to go back to school. It is not native on Guntersville lake. I’ve been here almost 50 years. The only reason all the grass is here, is because bass master in the late 90’s threatened Guntersville
J Can I ask you something about your mega live ? Your screen has no clutter on it. My is clear but at 50 feet out i get a lot of surface (only) clutter. I can but contrast up to the highest and low sensitive but its always there. Maybe its the summer time hot water ? Maybe any of your subscribers might know ? I'm running a solix 12 Thanks
@@TheFloatit there are a lot of reasons you could have clutter. Do you have clean connections on your battery? And a dedicated circuit just for your transducer? Also I would check for updates the last one I know of was in February for bait tracking and it helped my helix a lot.
@@JThompsonFishing I put in lithium's two months back. Yes clean connections. Dedicated circuit ? Right to battery or fuse box ? I have it on the cranking battery only to two solixs on same battery.
@@TheFloatit straight to battery. Having a battery just strictly for your electronics is ideal, I have not made that switch yet but will soon. I’m still running all 3 graphs and 2 transducers off an AGM cranking. Somehow I do not have clutter lol
If its like Indiana then state officials don't care what fishermen think, so they will do whatever they want. Sorry. But happened here on Lake Monroe and its hard to catch fish here with all the fishing pressure and no grass
Fishing a grass lake for a lot of years that when it comes to treatment it always gets out of hand. If they wanted to just treat around the docks I would support that. BUT, when they are spraying around docks and say “well I have 100 gallons left so left me spray it out” is where I lose it. Not need to spray on bank where people do not or cannot live.
@@JThompsonFishing 100% agree. I moved 2 years ago and now less than 2 hrs north of Guntersville and while I have not made it down yet do not want to see a great fishery suffer from poor management.
I have been fishing on Guntersville on and off since 1989. The grass is what keeps that lake alive. But on an honest note, I would rather deal with milfoil any day over that eelgrass!! Lol
I would too lol, but eel grass does give the fish protection from fisherman that no other grass can. It keeps us from being able to fish certain areas because we can’t keep our baits clean
Well, that's about un-conservation minded as you can get, bc eelgrass is one of the few native aquatic veg. species in Gville. They need to do what folks up north do, hire manual labor, using mechanical veg removal in areas around docks and creating lanes for boat dock owners, it's a win/win for everyone, more jobs and no destruction of habitat.
eelgrass is not native to the Tennessee River. And manual labor and harvesting is not feasible physically or economically on a 69,000 acre lake. Ive fished the lake for 30+ years and been a property owner for 20+. Paid $1100 to get the grass cleared so I could get my boat out, and that lasted about a month or so. Unless there is a hard freeze and a big flood this winter, they will not be able to spray enough to wipe out everything. All these questions and issues have been hashed out for decades, none of it new.
Oh yes, American eelgrass is native to the eastern US and Canada. Just bc it's wasn't very prevalent when you first started fishing Gville doesn't mean it didn't exist there in the past, which it definitely was. I've been a professional aquatic biologists for 23 yrs in a Southeastern state studying and propagating freshwater mussels, many of which are endangered. In fact some streams in the eastern US which never incurred exotic aquatic plant species such as hydrilla, Eurasia milfoil, still have lush eelgrass beds, ex upper Allegheny river where the rarest of mussel species still and only exist. I'm not talking trying eradication of aquatic weeds by mechanical removal for the whole lake, just where boat dock owners need it. Of course, having to pay for such maintenance is very expensive thru private businesses. I'm saying the state govt should provide funding for such state jobs and equipment, like up north.
The hybridization of eelgrass now occurs in the TN river which tends to be invasive, as most aquatic plants can become but it's definitely filling the same ecological duties of the original strain, not a complete takeover of bays and coves to the surface like the exotic nuisance species. With that being said though, I still love punching milfoil😂
The aquatic vegetation is 100% what sets Guntersville apart as a fishery. It protects the entire ecosystem - all the way down to the plankton and microorganisms that are soo beneficial to everything else that lives in the water. Residents of Jackson County need to get with their representatives because the meeting they're hosting to discuss the treatment (killing) of the grass is open to media only.
@@shanebeaty5202 I’m not sure I haven’t found that as far as media only, not sure of Alex’s source. But they held a meeting about it and it was on the news
When it rains it pours, keep your faith on high alert God will help you get through it! You grinded through all the issues and got paid for your effort awesome job! Tight lines take care and God bless!
I got out of tournament fishing in 2006. I was going through some life changes and just couldn't afford it anymore. I loved it and still miss it. I could not imagine the costs now with inflation.
@@robgeis4514 the costs are insane now dude. I will miss the big derbs but I’m having fun in the small club tournaments! The big derbs and money on the line took a little of the fun out of it for me
Dudes got 6 other rods and he’s tripping like that was his only one 😂, I’m not gonna argue that it was probably an expensive set up, I spend probably $400 if not a lil more on my set up, but he got a tournament to worry about, shut up and get fishin my guy, and strap those rods down 😂
That's some hardship alright. DANG, you only have 7 left. What's REALLY gonna be embarrassing is if someone brings in a fish, finds a 2nd lure and your rod is on the other end 😂
Mr Thompson when you have to spend more then what you make it's just not worth it. And bs you guys have to put up with and I think you guys sponsors should be paying you guys alot more than what they are. I mean everything is so expensive and bassmaster they pay out donkey d&ck anymore it's ridiculous it's like they don't care if you guys go broke. Ps your not the only pro tournament fisherman who has quit tournament fishing.
I’m by no means a pro, there’s no way I could make it financially. But yes the pro’s do not get paid much at all, payouts suck, entry fees are ridiculous and it’s so hard to get good paying sponsors in todays economy, plus pros are not doing as much marketing as the RU-vid guys so there has been a big shift in fishing companies paying RU-vidrs instead of pros! That’s why so many pros are now getting started on RU-vid
@@JThompsonFishing hey Mr Thompson you look out for your family you have the rest of your life to go fishing. That tournament game is super tough and it's not your fault that you have to step down. It's to expensive bro . Hey you gave it 110 percent for 10 yrs and that's all you can ask of yourself. God bless you and your family.
