I watched Cheikh Lo live a decade ago at the Cape Town Jazz festival. He was scheduled at the same time as the headliner for the night at 10 pm, he outside the convention centre, the headliner in the main hall. His performance was incredible. Patrons left the main hall and joined his performance. He literally stole the show for the entire weekend of that festival. These folks are the real deal. They use no keyboards or pianos. Absolutely transparent! Unassuming, pure talent.
Litavian audience seems to be really as shy as the Portuguese before they dig it that they're wanted to start interacting and singing by the musicians the concert sadly is over. I am only referring to something of what musicians have told me when they were playing on concerts in Portugal after being to Germany or other European countries where they created a melting pot. Never I have been to Litavia but this may come, also for going to concerts to find out if it's true. In Portugal I think that it is. But it surely doesn't mean that shy audiences aren't able to listen better to the music and all slightly hidden impressions. Perhaps even more than any party loving folks. And this is a very important aspect of loving world and folk music in the best way the nature of it all was giving.
