Once a fine cinema now lost inside owing to its recent fire. However it's great exterior remains untouched to show us how great cinemas used to be way back in time .
Thank you for uploading this. It is one of my first childhood memories, running back from my grandad's house and looking up to see this huge 747 virtually hanging in the sky! I will never forget it.
I remember going to the Majestic cinema many times as a child it was like paradise It had the largest cinema screen in Europe at 60 foot high and 120 foot wide with a semicircle screen and when you entered the building the box office wood give you a pair of 3-D glasses to watch the new films out in 3-D, The seats were very deep and luxurious, We would que up all the way round Quebec street and arrive at the box office only to be told sorry full house so we would go back later in the week, My favourite film I saw there was South Pacific far from the post war austerity we were in the middle of and the black sootened buildings arround at the time. Very happy memories.
