@@lnk4328 2 brand new units went back at least 10 times each . Both replaced and the 2 pair both went back loads . Lost a lot of money from them not being reliable . It's been a big disappointment
im a diesel mechanic, i carry the 5" Knipex pliers wrench in my pocket and the amount of use it has gotten in just the past two weeks of me owning them is ridiculous.
Out of passing interest.... those Knipex Pliers Wrenches aren't molded, cast or anything of the sort. They're forged. Additionally, they'll 'free up' with a little use. Also, Knipex makes & sells replacement button kits that can be had from most anywhere that sells Knipex; even Amazon. Included in the kit is the pivot/s (old & new style), button cap, spring & screw.
Well... really it's not the fault of the screw for not being able to undergo a specific sheering weight... it doesn't have to do anything except keeping clamping weight. Contact Knipex, it doesn't matter if you bought them from a liquidator or not, they're still warrantied..
All my insulated pliers are Knipex, all my insulated drivers are Wiha. i have two of each of the Knipex plier wrenches except the 350mm and have zero complaints.
I have both. And I use the wiha more often than not because at the widest setting the handles are closer together. Its hard to crank on a stubborn bolt when your hand is stretched due to the wide grip that knipex has.
Please contact Knipex and let us know if they repair or replace the broken ones. It will be interesting to know how their warranty process works. It might affect our buying decision.
I wont comment on how much I paid as pricing will vary from the dealer to dealer, However the C161 goes for between $450 and $550 USD. I recommend getting a quote to see if they can beat there list pricing. Test equipment depot, Tequipment, MegaDepot, Value Testers and Supply House are dealers I would recommend to check out for it. If your located in Canada I would go with Tequipment as they offer borderfree shipping as an option where as the others do not, and in the case of supply house they only ship within the US.
