I was almost killed by an attempted percutaneous dilitational trach in an ICU unit after 2 weeks on vent. Among many other injuries from MV had TBI. Had to be rushed to the OR with someone bagging me for air and someone compressing my neck for bleeding form thyroid vessel. Very low oxygen saturation and BP. Of course I was unconscious and so could have died and never known it LOL. Suffered pneumothorax (L and R I believe) and pneumothorax. Portable xray taken either before or after correction in OR (I don't recall which) was read by rad with first sentence "a momentous event has occurred". A combination of incompetence and possibly contraindicated due to my condition.
I was missed diagnosed for 6 months and put in heavy medication. prednisone, Bactrim, anzathiaprine Doctors at Scripps lajolla Thought I had bilateral pulmonary pnemanitus. Lung biopsy showed I have PAP. performed whole lung Lavage left and right lungs still do not feel better still on oxygen. Looking to start on a GMCSF therapy.

This is what my wife is thinking of doing for herself. Her breathing already has me extremely worried. Yes she has COPD and had it for a while, she doesn’t smoke but use to. I stay up a lot at night and watch her sleep to make sure she’s breathing ok. I’ll wake her up when her breathing gets to labored so she can have a breathing treatment. I’m praying that this will make her life a little easier.
I also COPD (Emphysema). I live alone and many times during the night my labored breathing or noisy breathing wakes me up. Does your wife use Oxygen during the night and has she been diagnosed with sleep arpnea?
@@debrascott8492 I’m so sorry that you’re going through this alone, we don’t do that here in our family. If there is an emergency with her breathing someone has to be here. Brenda, that’s my wife has trouble just walking from the bedroom to the kitchen. Yes she on oxygen most of the time here lately, she caught a minor chest cold which hit her pretty hard. She’s been on antibiotics for the past month trying to beat this darn cold. It would be nice to know if you had someone to at least check on you through out your day.
@@garywebb4244 ...Thank you for replying. My Brother lives in my city and he calls me in the morning and in the evening (everyday), however we both know this is not the same as having someone else in your home, but it is what it is. I also have sleep apnea and I cannot use the mask because I am "extremely" claustrophobic. Sure hope your wife gets rid of that cold, then she might be able to breathe a little better.
Excellent video. If I could suggest to lower the volume of the background music to liste better the instructions. Thank you for this excellent material.
Does a malignant pleural effusion look different on a chest x-ray (vs. a benign pleural effusion) . Why would a large pleural effusion be one-sided ? (right lung) ? Thank you in advance.
