I took my daughter here a few weeks ago. Great shop! Prices are very fair. I purchased a half dozen Septarians, among other things. So much to see. Plan on spending at least an hour in here.
Excellent tutorial with great safety tips. Would love to learn more about dry polishes for different stones. We only covered cerium oxide in my intro class. You carry fantastic stones btw. I just love playing with the rocks!
Huge diamond you missed. Right next to that one piece of alunite. Better dead than red alunite. Final words "Alright we're gonna find some big ones." Guys, step up or step off !
Hi George. I am in the market for a new blade for my rock saw. Noticed you had an MK gemking blade on your saw and wondered if you have any opinions about the UKAM Smart Cut blades with the supposed lined-up diamonds in the sintered cutting edge. Looks great on their cartoon drawing but cartoons are usually advertising hype. Have you or any of your friends in the professional end of the lapidary business tried this product. Also, as a hobbyist, and just cutting primarily Brazilian agates for the great grand kids, I would like to find a blade that stays sharp without frequent blade dressing. Thanks for your thoughts.
Those are great samples for the material being so dense and hard. I have a bunch of great ones but down here in Texas the chalk formation is fragile and easily breakable. :(
Such a talent! My family has known of his incredible work for many, many years! I am planning a trip to CT soon and with my sister will see you at New England shows!
Hi George. Hope you still check this video for comments. I am looking for a six wheel lapidary machine like the one you use at the start of this video (not sure if the one you are using has six wheels) However I am searching all over the net and there seems to be so many different names for it. I know the name has something to do with lapidary polishing that search brings up tons of different types of machines. Do you have any tips on what I should search for to find this machine. (Complete newbie here I just saw a six wheel machine at a activity center and fell in love with shaping/polishing the different gem stones)
Thanks :) I've got me one now from Diamond Pacific. It just came last week and got to work on my first stones (no pun intended:) a couple of days ago :D
HI, wonderful vids. I have use silicon carbide on quartz massives for the last few years and am interested in switching to diamond. Are your wheels sintered diamond or brazed/bonded? I am ordering a new cabbing unit and would like to know what you feel are the most economic over time.
