The vise is unimportant. It's just a hard object to hammer against. A concrete floor would work. A workbench. Lots of options. The vise happened to be a comfortable height.

Thanks for the tip. I tried it on one of the newer pcgs holders. It took a while but I was able to straighten the coin without damaging it or the holder.

Won't work unless coin is a bit loose in holder ....worth a shot maybe you'll get lucky

I just used it on a bust half in the latest PCGS prong holder. It took a little longer but it worked. Still, I'm sure there are cases where it won't. But always worth a try!
