Good question! I was afraid it would dig me in faster with both wheels spinning. I think having the front wheels alternate traction (It was still in 4 wheel drive) is better in snow and sand so they don't both spin out of control. I don't think locking the front helped me get out either, the winch did all the work. Thanks Rich!
You are a little crazy, fellow. I have to say you have Guts! It looks to be the perfect challenge for a mountain biker with a lot of experience. I could never ride the way you do, because I didn't lean to ride a bike until I was 16 years old. The kid next door to us started young and was going down anyplace he could find dirt in San Francisco. We lived on one heck of a steep street - Bradford st.
