Damnskippy awsome dude, was looking for a video showing what is actually needed to convert from a soft top to a hard top.In my case i have a 1980 olds mobile delta 88 2 door car where i deleted the soft top was lucky minor suface rust. And basicly had to use the plastic moulding that rivets to the top .The chrome trim did not line up and i guess i have to exchange the panel piece you showed by the trunk lid.And do some body work.I did the sail panels .Now i was hoping to find a video on the rear plastic windshield removal. To replace the scratched up glass from my first inexperienced attempts at this type of project. Will be looking for a followup video of your project.
Aftermarket is hit and miss. But that's all we have anymore. I got lucky but spend 1k for gm roof rail and lower door weatherstripping. Door closed perfectly first time
@@dhosack85 I’m going to lower my 79 el Camino rear due to the quick performance 9” rearend tubes being much bigger than the 7.5 and now sits up an inch and a half higher. Do you know if I can use f body springs on a g body?
@@michaelmaher4328 I'm not sure. I feel like I had read something that those won't work for some reason. I used A body (chevelle) rear springs I think i used 2 inch drop and it gave me close to a 2 inch drop.
I couldn't tell you models but I believe it's 78 to 80 were completely different body styles then 81 to 88 was all the same. I believe they only made a GNX in 88 though.
@@techfordummies6801 I guess I would take the window out and examine the body structure then the actual window and make sure there is isn't anything keeping it from laying flat. They're pretty easy to remove and install just have to get the interior panels removed for access to the nuts that hold the glass in.
GM Windshield & Rear Window Trim Molding Clip Screw-in Studs- Qty.25- #221 a.co/d/8e7OD32 here's an Amazon link. These aren't the exact ones I used but it's what I could find. I found mine at an auto body supply store they also had like all the body hardware for all kinds of cars.
I couldn't tell you what are the best. These were alittle cheaper than the UMI ones and more in my price range this time. My buddy has the UMI arms I'd say they're all pretty similar just depends on what you're wanting out of your build.
@@dhosack85 well I paint for a living n I got enough jet blk to do the car but I ain't sure. It's a 1982 cutlass my wife brought me 10yrs ago. I been Saving and buying parts for all that time. Motors a Jensen technology 406 sbc with a th350 manual valve body and a 8.5 grand national rear for now, also c5 brakes front n rear with dba rotors and hawk pads. She is all stripped down , kirkey protouring seat, fiberglass dash, trick performance tubular radiator support, motion pro light weight steering column with detachable steering wheel and automated gages... still need a torque converter, exhaust, roll cage but I have 3 kids and work 50hrs a week. Honest work Honest money...takes time to do this. And I do my own work if I don't know it I will learn how to do it.
Lmao! Right. There answer to my question about was its in development and use the no bind lower shock mount. I said that doesn't correct the coil over angle. Just sticks your coil over at a crazy angle.
I see by reading through the previous comments that you now understand the evils of ebay fittings. I get all of mine from Summit Racing, and you can save money by using push-lok hose/hose ends. I'm about to install a new cooler on my Fairlane, and I'm going to use hard tubing to the extent possible. It's a little more work/money than going entirely with rubber hose, but it makes me feel better, and that's what counts. :) To solve the "unsightly cooler lines" that would normally be seen, I'm mounting the cooler (with a fan) under the car at the back seat area. One more comment - a stacked plate cooler is much more efficient than a tube-and-fin, and can therefore be smaller.
Yes, ended up buy swaged fitting braided lines. I am planning to upgrade to a under the car mounted fan driven trans cooler this time! I'll look into what you've mentioned.
Not sure yet man lol so far I've figured with the right back space I think I could fit some 315's or possibly 325's. I've got a little over 13 inches I think with the frame to the wheel well, if I want to tuck them.
I had to take trim and the lower deck lid panel with me to the window installer so they could center it well. I've had no issues with it thus far. The trim and everything turned out fine and looks great!
