Nobody remembers how bad this shit was. I could see it 20 miles away. I could see this from Somerville 10 or 20 miles away, thought we got nuked. The light of the explosion was wild.
My mom was a nursing student at one of the nearby hospitals when this happened and got called to assist. The incident commanders feared hundreds if not thousands of fatalities as a result of the multiple apartment buildings destroyed by fire and the blast.
I remember this. I lived in Woodbridge. Was in bed watching Letterman & heard the rumble. Listened to the police scanner all night. My window vibrated all night from this thing. Will never forget it. We had ash falling from the sky onto our cars. My husband lived in Edison & he thought someone broke in through the garage door the noise made the whole house vibrate. I would have stayed up to check it out but had to go to sleep had to be at work the next day. I do miss listening to the old police scanner, hearing this brought back memories, a lot of towns' frequencies are trunked nowadays.
I remember when this happen u was living on stelton road in rivendell at the time. The explosion rocked our entire building that night. I will never forget this night!!!!!
PUBLIC SERVICE Message for all Weichert Agents and their Clients, and all others involved in buying or selling real estate. Never Trust ANY EMAIL that contains wire-transfer instructions for any money in a real estate transaction, even if you “think” you know the person who sends it. My wife and I were purchasing a property using a Weichert broker and a real estate attorney. My wife and I are in our mid 60s and the last time we had been involved in buying our current house was more than 26 years ago - when you had to sit down at a table with the agent and the attorneys and use actual checks to exchange. Now, many professionals require wire-transferring of purchase price. In our situation, our Weichert realtor and our real estate attorney did not guide, warn, advise, or remind my wife and me throughout the month-long transaction not to trust an email and to make sure to verify through some other method before sending any money. In short, my family lost a life savings of $91,500 in literally seconds- and was not aware .. nor were our Weichert broker or our McNally and Associates LLC attorney.. aware of it until 3 days later when we were told that the money was not in the seller’s account. Our attorney actually offered us $5000 not to sue him - he then stated he did not have any insurance because his ex-wife did not pay his premiums. Our Weichert broker had told us when we first began working with her that she “was having problems with her professional (Weichert) email account” and that we “should use her personal email account”. She then, over the next month, still continued to use both her Weichert and her personal account to send and to receive financial and personal information, including signed contracts, financials, etc. Not once did she or our attorney use an encrypted or other means for these transactions. Not once did they advise, warn, guide or remind us that using email is dangerous and to watch out for anything out of the ordinary. All we had been told by both the Weichert agent and the attorney was to expect an email with the wiring instructions for the full purchase price that HAD TO BE SENT PRIOR TO CLOSING. My wife and I received an email (seemingly) from the attorney and followed the directions - and lost all our money. Weichert and the attorney refuse to settle this matter that has been going on for more than 3 1/2 years. Instead, my wife and I have had to spend thousands of dollars more to sue them. We have had 3 attorneys tells us that our position against the Weichert agent and the agency as well as the attorney is very strong and that, if this were to end up at trial, we would recoup not only our stolen money but our attorney fees accrued over the years. This is a public service for anyone who is thinking of buying or selling a property. DO NOT WIRE TRANSFER ANY MONEY AT ANY TIME following only the directions sent in an email. Verify some other way that does not contain any of the information (telephone number, address, etc of the email sender) that is in that email. Have a independent way to personally verify with your attorney and / or realtor that they actually sent the email. In fact, it is best not to ever wire-transfer money, under any circumstances. Just not worth the possibility of losing everything. Even if your professionals insist that they are using safe methods, encrypted emails, etc. you are taking a big chance with your hard earned savings.
