Would never purchase food from places that are too lazy or too cheap to wear hair nets. While doing some work in a large candy plant 50 years ago we even had to wear a hair net while working in warehouse & 3 giant refrigerated boxes.

⛔The Bible & Quran Say: DO NOT EAT PORK Both the #Bible and #Quran prohibit the eating of #pork. Muslims are aware of this prohibition and observe it strictly. However, most readers of the Bible say they do not know where they can find this in the Bible. In the book of Leviticus, Chapter 11, v. 7, it is recorded that God declares the pig to be unclean for believers. Then, in verse 8, God says: ‘You must not eat their meat or touch their carcasses; they are unclean for you’. This command is repeated in Deuteronomy 14;7-8. Then, in Isaiah 65:2-4, and 66:17, God issues a stern warning against those who eat pork. Some people are aware of this prohibition from God, but they say that they can eat pork because St. Paul said that all food is clean in his letter to the Romans 14:20. St. Paul said this because he believed (as he wrote in his letter to the Ephesians 2:14-15) that Jesus had abolished the Law with all its commandments and regulations. He seems, however, to have misunderstood what he heard from Jesus. In the Gospel According to Matthew 5:17-20, Jesus is reported to have said quite the contrary, as follows: ‘Do not think that I have come to abolish the law…’ Jesus then went on in that passage (in verse 19) to denounce anyone who would break the smallest commandment and teach others likewise. He also praised his true followers who will practice and teach even the smallest commandments. One of the commandments, as we have seen, is to stay away from pork. This is why the true followers of Jesus, holding on to his teachings, did not let unclean food such as pork enter their mouths, so that Peter, the chief disciple, can say: ‘I have never eaten anything impure or unclean.’ (Acts of the Apostles, ch. 10, v. 14). Five chapters later in the Acts of the Apostles, 15:29, we find that the original disciples still differentiate between clean and unclean foods, and this time Paul is in agreement with them. Six chapters later, in ch, 21, v.25, their decision to impose food regulations on believers is mentioned without regret, and this time Paul is challenged to prove that he is in agreement with them; and he demonstrated his full agreement with them. What remains, then, is that Jesus, on whom be peace, upheld the prohibition against pork. His disciples also upheld it, and so must all his followers. Those who fail to uphold it need to be informed and reminded of this rule from God. This is one reason why God sent His final messenger, on whom be peace. God says: ‘O people of the Scripture! Now has Our Messenger come unto you, expounding unto you much of that which you used to hide in the Scripture, and passing over much (without explanation). Now has come unto you light from Allah and a plain Scripture.’ (The Meaning of the Glorious Qur’an 5:15).

Definitely worth a trip, both the roast pork and roast beef are remarkable. Philadelphia is chock full of such businesses. But Tommy DiNic is really a good man. If you want to know a true South Philadelphia Italian, here you go. Down to earth, hardworking, raised by Depression Era immigrants who lived to give their families the American Dream

This is the recipe for quick pulled pork. Cut up pork shoulder put it in a pressure cooker. Add 3 cups water, 1 tbs salt, black pepper, garlic and 3 to 4 bay leaves. Cook for 30 minutes at medium heat. Remove from heat and place in a pan. Boil down juice about half way. Pour it over the meat and broil it in the oven both sides until browned. Done. Always tender.

I have both of my mom's pressure cookers - one from the 50's or 60's and a relatively new one. They're great for quick and tender, but low and slow braising or roasting after implanting garlic cloves and other herbs and searing is the only way to get the flavor of mom's or grandma's meals.

This place is # 3 out of the top best known roast pork sandwiches in Philadelphia. Johns my favorite is # 1, Tony Luke's is # 2 . These are both superior to DiNic's. For a tourist this is the easiest to get to , plus the Reading Market is a cool place to visit.

Not sure what the deal was when I went to Dinic's at Reading, but I found the Roast Pork with Broccoli Rabe to be bland and bitter. Pork was dry and flavorless and the rabe tasted like the broccoli was coated in aspirin. All that walking for a big let-down.

Just in case you ever decided to go back. I'm a regular at Dinic's when I'm in the area and have eaten there for years. And I agree that the roast pork with rab isn't as great as people say it is since it's been on TV. The TRUE regulars of Dinic's (i'm talking people who eat there almost daily on lunch breaks) don't go for the roast pork. They go for the BRISKET (w/provologne and peppers) and PULLED PORK. That's the stuff they always run out of regularly, LONG before the roasted meats go. It's just that people don't know how great these other sandwiches are because they're too infatuated with the basic items. But yeah trust me. Talk to most people who eat there regularly, and a lot will talk more about the brisket than the roast pork.

Good ingredients. That is all. The other day I had a chicken parm sandwich from a local place in philadelphia and it was inedible. Same price as one of these excellent sandwiches from Dinic's. Dinic's always has a queue of people waiting. The other place I was talking about above with the terrible chicken parm sandwich? There's never anyone in there.
