Fifty years before this race, I was the 190lb cox for a Rutgers 3rd varsity four which beat three Princeton crews, to start a day when Rutgers took all the races at Carnegie. I was the crew's manager, but a shortage of coxwains due to the LSAT that day put me into the shell for my only ever competition.
Harvard under Harry Parker had a lot more lay back. He taught almost a Mike Spracklen amount of lay back. Now they look like they're taking half strokes. The worst is the Harvard 2 seat. He's almost completely vertical at the finish. It's hard to watch.....
