My 6th great grandfather was Scots Irish his parents came to Virginia in the 1730s. He was at the battle of point pleasant in 1774 and was with the 5th Virginia regiment retreating across the Delaware with Washington and at the battle of Trenton to valley forge. My daughter was born fighting with multiple birth defects many surgeries and has been on dialysis over 20 years in her 40s now on the edge of death her entire life, I think she got some of that DNA

To dispell a common misconception, Cornwallis did not "surrender all British troops" at Yorktown. That surender took place Oct 19, 1781. British forces continued to occupy Charleston until Dec 14, 1782; the Treaty of Paris was signed in Sep, 1783, and New York City was evacuated Nov 25, 1783. The Revolutionaary War lasted over two years after Yorktown. Just as Boston wasn't the first Tea Party, Yorktown wasn't the War''s end.

Sorry, King forced my family after the Johnstone clan burnt all the main leaders of my ancestors alive in their Church. Anyways, I guess they didn’t like taking the Irish land, so they came to America. Well it wasn’t America then. So they fought in the Revolutionary War and now we have the USA. Ever since through over 250 we have been military. Giving up our sons to fight for this country and then to protect all the Nato countries. I wish we could have just stayed in Scotland. Life would have been way easier. Again so sorry but really was forced by the King to move to northern Ireland.
