Hi, my name is Bill, my friends and family call me Billy.
Back in 2018 my wife bought me a rampage arcade one up. Little did she know what she was getting into… it was great but, after a while the kids and I got bored of playing just the same four games over and over. That started me down a path of research, making some questionable purchases, and finding some great stuff too.
I am by no means a professional! My videos may include self-deprecating humor, foul language, me lumbering through shots, bad audio, jump cuts, terrible lighting, poor editing… I can go on but I’m supposed to be encouraging you to come back. I’m not sure things will improve as time goes on but we’ll see how it goes.
There are 2 things I would like to stress… I am not sponsored I would like to note that everything you see here I purchased personally.
Please let's keep it light and fun! Please check the negativity at the door, like my parents used to say if you have nothing nice to say… keep it to yourself.
Thanks for the video and the good information. Maybe I’m missing something but I do not see anywhere with a link regarding your system. Hardware. If you could put it up on, appreciate it thank you.
Nope, you were not missing it... I forgot to add it, sorry about that. I updated the description, thank you for letting me know. Here's the link so you do not need to fish for it: pcpartpicker.com/list/WCtmyg
Dude!! Hammer. Nail. BANG!!! You absolutely nailed it! GREAT review and as a guy that has all three versions myself, I can confirm you are 100% spot on in each of your descriptions!!! Liked and Subbed - thanks for the great video!
I have the LG model myself, followed the instructions and noticed because the round thing in the back, sits a hair too high. Did you run into that issue? Thats my stuck point. I thought about taking the wood block on the back and replacing it with something thinner.
Hi Joey, I didn't have that issue. Are the bolts in the block to complete screwed down? The block should sit juts about flush to the monitor. Sorry if that is a rudimentary question but without being able to see the issue it is hard to know where to start. But there was thing that I did different. I cut the more out of plastic out the monitor Bezel, I mentioned that at the 22 or so minute mark it helps give you some wiggle room. I would suggest hitting up buy stuff if you haven't already or post in their facebook group facebook.com/groups/buystuffarcades/ and throw in in some pictures of the issue and we will all do what we can to make suggestions and help out.
Good review, my kids are the same way. Forgot to mention the 4KP tables with the SSF kit are more immersive. It’s tough to play FX and FX3 without the feedback. It’s just not the same.
Thanks for sharing the video so when I get off work today I can check it out and see if I see or feel any difference in the game I appreciate the video info
Great video! Are you familiar with the Buystuff Haptics kit ? The reason I ask ... After installing my Buystuff display kit my backbox sound is only working on the native ALP games. My haptics speakers work for both native and PC ... but the backbox speakers do not work when running OTG /PC mode. Any thoughts ? Thanks
Sorry, I have been away for a few weeks. I am not really familiar with their kit, I got the amp, but picked up my own exciters and a secondary amp to split everything off. My suggestion would be to reach out to Buy Stuff, their support is beyond great! I would suggest joining their Facebook group: facebook.com/groups/buystuffarcades or hitting them up on their chat via: www.buystuffarcades.com/
You mention having done additional trim work on the plastic to better fit the LG monitor. What did you cut off beyond what’s shown in the BSS install video? I did mine as they showed - but there’s a bit of the monitor’s “chin” visible. It’s not a huge deal…but if cutting a bit more plastic can improve it, why not!
I had to cut the pieces out completely. In their video there is still a little bit left behind, but they were also using the Sceptre which has a thinner bezel. My cuts were flush to the frame so there was nothing left, you may even need grind or sand down the cut area little bit depending on your monitor.
@@BillyWoods-Mods I had to with the LG model as well. The gasket tape was too short that came with mine kit and I didn't like the the look and replaced it with a thinner type which I think looks better. Overall, very pleased with the mod.
This the kit buystuff charges $300 for? I'd be happy just buying the lvds kit bag and buy a $15 2x4 foot of sanded plywood from home depot. Anyways looks great, nice job
If you are not interested in full kit you can always message them and see if they would sell you the Playfield conversion parts without the mounting kit. In my experience Buy Stuff has been really cool with that sort of thing.
@BillyWoods-Mods most definitely, and they would do that. Their service has been good with the stuff I ordered from them in past. I just kinda wish some prices were not a bit beyond my means. I ended up canceling modding an HD when the back box 2.0 deluxe shipped was going to be $770. With spare monitors laying around, I'll make one. But their stuff is top quality always. They did just introduce a cheaper backbox which is nice.
@@Roadsurfer2k11 Quality or not, most people can't justify the price tag for the upgraded backboxes (or even this $300 screen upgrade kit that doesn't include the monitor). When the entire ALP can be purchased all day long from AtGames direct for $799, it's insane to consider spending $500-$700 on a backbox and then another $500-$600 on an upgraded playfield and BSA kit. $1,000-$1,300 in upgrade parts for an $800 machine! If you're going to be investing $2k or more into the machine, why not spend another grand or two and go with a proper full-featured commercial VPIN? I get that it costs BSA money to design and assemble the kits etc...etc..., but the price relative to what you get is just too much. Its like buying a junker Honda car for $500 and then spending $1,000 on new wheels and tires for it. Yeah, it's an upgrade, but why not just buy a better car to begin with?
@@BillyWoods-Mods It's not even necessary to ask, the listing for the kit has a dropdown with separate options for all different needs (just the conversion kits, mounting kit with conversion, or the mounting kit alone).
Cool mods. Been wanting to mod my ACP to make the "B" button light up as a FIRE button like on Stern cabs, but haven't gotten into the exploring phase of that yet.
Sweet upgrade! Looks awesome! Thanks for the wart details. I've been modding my ALP with all new hardware. It's a wart show. Couple questions: Have you seen the Superman table on vpuniverse? It would look great on your setup. Also, I didn't see that graphic on buystuffarcades. I see ACDC. Did you have to ask for it?
Looks great... I would like to reskin my 4k pinball with tron legacy.... how did you change the Adam's family back glass or what did you replace it with?
Hi Ruben, Sorry I missed your question. Check out this video if you haven't see it already: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-J5uyccXeL1A.html You can get the blank backglass from Buy Stuff Arcades. www.buystuffarcades.com/
Thanks I think the wet method may have made it worse, if there was a tear some place else in the graphic the water\fluid may have gotten underneath the old graphic. Just a thought I am by no means an expert.
I'd rather pull the buttons and have a more seamless fit than cutting the hole larger and risk making them too big. I'm not an expert and can barely hold a tape measure much less use one. lol
Looks awesome. I always use the door hinge method to apply these. Tape it down the middle and apply half of it and squeegee to the end from the middle. For the buttons, you can just leave the wires attached and remove the switch from the button leaving the wires attached. Take a pic of everything or label it. Love the Superman theme.
I'm thankful to have got this today. My Buystuff graphics are coming tomorrow. Sorry it was a bitch but thanks for showing it all. Hopefully I don't mess anything up but if I do it's not the end of the world...
Not sure. If I had to do it again I would try it... But considering that there's no real sticker left to peel off, I don't know whether or not it would work.
