@@ace3203 I get this question all the time. There's no specific pitch. It is nearly table-top right but still producing a clear note, and tuned evenly across the whole head, not loosened around the snare beds. Bottom head does not change throughout the whole video.
hey folks, i really love how you got this snare to sound, beautiful at all tunings, good job! i have this same snare, so i'm wondering at what pitch did you have the bottom head? i did watch Ryan's snare tuning vid with the Ludwig snare, and he did say that that was how he tuned all the snares at your shop, but sadly he didn't say what pitch or note it that bottom head was. i certainly can't discern what note it's at, hopefully you all can. i REALLY want my snare to sound just like yours. : )
@@skwark56 That's because there's no specific pitch that I tune bottom heads to. Just tight, but still tonal and evenly-pitched around the head, so it produces a clear note when you tap it with your finger. Each drum is a little different, so you have to spend a little time and listen to it.
I've been searching for a good comparison and found it here. Great job! I can't decide between the Acrolite or Supralite. LOL But that is my problem. Well done and thank you for putting this comparison video together and popping it up on YT, even though it's 4 years old. The best video I've found on these drums... Listened with headphones and I'm gonna watch it again.
I play that drum a few weeks now, and: Awsome, awsome. awsome! Great sound (with an aquarian focos x texture coated, my favourite snare- head), and: rhythmista7707, you are very right: very woody!!! Sounds great from low to high!
I like the the tone of brass without black nickel or chrome on the shell. It seems to open up & breathe more ? To my ears, anyway. Tonality is nice. Sounds great at all tuning levels. Thx.
I work at a music store in Alaska and we just got one of these in stock , so I watched this video and bought it the next day. It is awesome, thanks for the video , very helpful1
No way- I’m wearing a 2112 percussion shirt right now that I found at a thrift store. I’d never heard of you guys before and I just realized I’m randomly watching you now (I was just browsing snare comparisons)
Looks and sounds Beautiful. Only change for me is I prefer natural finish interior. Great demo. Medium to high my favorite sound but sounds great at all tensions.
@@af7119 Gretsch USA Customs have only ever been type of shell: 6-ply maple/gum. Same shell material since the early 60s. Flies with honey my dude. Don't be rude.
How is Wuhan so damn good at making cymbals and then sell them for such affordable prices? I don't personally own any Wuhan cymbals but they all seem really good for their low prices.
@@2112percussion_ I can understand that. I'm just saying during a song you won't have time to turn the knob. Also, the multi-position butt plate is one of the main selling points of DW snares. Anyways, enjoyed the demo!
Not a friendly price point but you forget all about it once you play one in person. Incredble, colorful drum. I A-B'd this with a raw bronze 8x14 and the hammering adds more brass-like qualities. Favorite snare to date
