First of all, great documentary. Glad to see games like this get attention. Secondly, as a Belgian it's so random to see a Sint Truiden shirt (the Sintruin on Tour one) in a documentary about 2 Irish clubs :D
Just saw the Rovers documentary and then clicked on the channel to find this video too. Amazing stuff! Would love to see more of this type of content, especially if you do some NIFL clubs too!
Well done Ally, great video. It's really great to see such high-quality production covering Irish domestic Football. I truly believe that the future of Irish football relies on our domestic league. It really helps when people such as yourself give it the attention it deserves. I think the Louth Derby is the best in the country and despite Dundalk and Drogheda not being major European cities with Major European clubs the Louth Derby in terms of passion is up there as one of the best in Europe. Thank you Ally for helping show this. You've earned yourself a new subscriber. You should be proud of yourself your quality of work is excellent. I hope to see more quality content come out soon.
Cormac, thanks for the kind words mate. Really appreciate and hopefully we can continue making more docs like this in the future. Make sure and let me know when you’re back in the summer and book the flights around one of the derbies so you catch a game. ⚽️🔥
I had the pleasure and privilege of experiencing the Louth derby. I'm from the US and was in Dundalk the Summer of 2014 along with my brother and parents visiting family. I always try to go see a game at Oriel Park when I'm back visiting, however there was no game scheduled at Oriel Park during the two weeks I was there. The closest away fixture was in Drogheda. My uncle surprised myself and my brother and had bought tickets to the match. It was two days before we went back to America. Took the bus down with my uncle and my cousins. It was mad! I've never experienced a more fun and passionate sporting event. From start to stop the atmosphere was electrifying. Without going into too much detail the animosity between both sets of supporters is very real making the outcome of the fixture that much more important than your usual league match up. The match ended in a 1-1 draw. I gotta give it up to the Drogheda boys they sure do know how to get down and rowdy, they really love their club. I'll be a Dundalk supporter until I die. Hopefully this Summer when I go back to visit my relatives in Dundalk, I can catch another match. Go figure the way its lining up there's a good chance it will be the Louth Derby! I can't wait! C'mon The Town!!!
Are Drogheda really punching above their weight by being in the Premier? The town is bigger than Dundalk (who've qualified for the Europa League twice in recent years), over twice the size of Sligo who're entering their 19th consecutive season in the top flight and about the same size as Waterford. Granted it's a much smaller town than Cork and Limerick, whose clubs are both in the first division (second tier) but I still wouldn't say that they're punching above their weight by being in the Premier Division.
Great insight into the past & present of Shamrock Rovers massive achievement winning 4 in a row again congratulations & hopefully it’ll be 5 in a row next season , all the best from a Celtic fan ☘️🇮🇪🍀
Very well made documentary. Particularly liked the use of archive footage interspersed against the trophy lift. Really hits home how much time had passed between the achievements. Good music selection too.
Nice one! As someone who was there first time around, it's been even more amazing to see it happen again. Hopefully the current Hoops can do what was cruelly denied the 1980s' team and go on to make it five. Regardless, it's been some journey since 1987.
Great to hear that John. It was brilliant for us to chat to people like Con and Jason who had been there before and see what it meant to them. Continued success for you next season 🤝
Congratulations but it's not great for a 1 horse league. Hopefully someone can put a stop to yee. Cork city are year's away from that right now, but maybe Derry city
