I don’t think there has ever been a musical composition better than this, its just so raw, its like pure sadness mixed with tranquility and ironically, standing still. God i love this song.
(No TL;DR just skip if you don't care.) I'm sure everyone has a point in life when they feel lost, just trudging through every day because we don't know any different but in truth we may have lost all reason to keep walking, I can say there was a point in life like that for me though I can't say it was inherently sad for me, I think it was in 2017 when it happened, I already had my doubts about the people I chose to have as company but one night my suspicions were proven to be justifiable. I had an argument with someone that left both of us confused, it was very petty and this person had all the ties to my other friends at the time as well, I was afraid of losing them back then but now I think I only feared that because it meant losing everyone else, at that point I think I had already seen the light. As much as I attempted to apologise I simply got no response, the day after the events they said they simply didn't see my messages but that should have been impossible, I knew them extremely well and knew the times when they were busy and not, I messaged them on almost all social media they had, there was no way they didn't see any of that, they had even told me that they always checked their PSN and other social media in the morning, I gave them a whole day to actually see these messages. I knew for sure at that point that they just didn't care at all about losing me, and so neither did I, there weren't any particularly hard feelings afterwards, of course we were still both upset at each other but it didn't end in hate, neither of us were enemies after that instead it was more like we had never met to begin with. I would then go on holiday to a snowy place with family and it was this holiday that stirred change in me, I started trying things I had never done before, I was starting to develop a new World view, I was trying to rebuild myself after living a lie for so many years, now I can safely say that I know who I am, it wasn't for nothing as undeveloped as these changes were at the time, everything that started on that holiday only continued to develop as the years went by, I'm built on much stronger fundamentals than I used to be. Compared to who I am now I must have had no idea why I even existed when I was younger, looking back I can't even say I was a good person, no doubt I was equally to blame for the argument as my former friend was. This is already long enough so I won't go into details on the holiday, it was the most chaotic holiday I had but it was also the most impactful on my soul, I'll never forget it.
Dude...lifelong fan of this game, as in "had the Prima's Official Guide, got the Celestial Weapons" and everything. This track has stuck with me for years, years and years. Its so heartwrenching, for being so simple. FFX is a tragedy and this song is a threnody - Like the repeated notes, Tidus is stuck in this loop, beyond the Farplane, beyond the Dream of the Fayth and fading. Like Baaj temple and the ruins of Zanarkand, he is doomed to be lost to time as well. If you think about when this song takes place (the second time): Tidus is there beyond the gate in Guadosalam; even viewing Chappu's image in the pyreflies - as a myth. A living ghost made up of parts. He himself isn't even there in the sense that Chappu is. Out of the Frying Pan and Into the Great Freezer: the place where time stands still. And for some reason he was chosen for this path only to fall in love, to travel the world with his love, to drive back the spawn of Sin and things maybe even older Beyond the Darkness (Omega, Ultima), to become a hero capable of rebuilding a world righted after thiusands of years -- only to have these things fade away from him in the end. Even after finally figuring out the riddle, finally breaking the cycle, finally killing god himself (Yu Yevon) to prove his loyalty to his friends and his love. To have her slip through his arms and land sprawling on the deck of the airship he helped see renewed and used to rescue her from an evil lord like a prince rescuing a princess. To be unable to comfort her even as she uttered the words, and he said them back with all his sincerity and meaning - but his only true embrace with her being in Macalania, before all this madness. He could not even touch her shoulders, though he tried. Your track has encompassed that Wandering Flame of tragedy. I think most of all I feel the loss in this rendition, it's raw. I'll admit, i never played FFX-2. I liked the bittersweet tragedy that was Yuna's uniting of Spira, strong even in her grief. The mystery of why Tidus woke up and where. Like the Wandering Flame left bountiful soil in its wake. Thank you for this track, man. It brought back a lot.
this is one of the most perfect covers i've ever heard, not just of a video game song, but in general. you kept the heart of the song but made it completely yours. beautiful, beauuuuutiful work man.
Auron just exudes a badass aura, the way he keeps his arm in a sling, wielding his mighty blade, he's such a good father figure to Tidus, I really love the scene in luca where he explains that Sin is Jecht, gives me goosebumps every time, "it'll be alright" ❤
by far the best final fantasy in the franchise. most old gamers trully believe that the best ff is the 7th or the 8th sequel. i totally disagree. it s the first time in my life that i fully agree with the official critics. the x sequel had everything. strategy, riddles, puzzles, hidden places, excelent scenario, beautiful and deep characters, unforgetable mezmerising music, voice actors that could make you shed tears (something that didnt exist in the previous final fantasy games, not even in the cutscenes) and of course an ending that should have won an oscar!
It constantly brings me to tears, but I'm biased to a fault in this game's favor. It captures the beautiful sorrow of this story- the chosen clips are so telling as to how you understand this game's message, its very soul. This is a very important game to me, and this has done it such a great honor with relatively modest means. The "feel" you have as a guitarist is exceptional here, and the ending arpeggio calling back to FF's standard prelude, while Yuna looks up wistfully...Christ, man. Thank you for this.
Bra I've heard many versions of wondering flame but I never heard of no electric guitar version but holy shit this is smooth I can see it now the '80s on a balcony with the wind blowing just did a line, with hair in the face going hard on that guitar mmmmmmh so smooth
Thought I commented this ages ago but I apparently didn't. Thank you very much for this, the original track is already so beautiful and you still managed to add something even more beautiful on top of it. Lost a very good friend a few months ago in awful circumstances and this helped.
After 10 years...this. Is still one of the most beautiful things ever made by Man. A great piece of art. After all this time, I still get the same emotions!
