Umlaut is a German word that means Change of sound, so A is pronounced "Ahh" but Ä is more like "Ehh". In Swedish it's a bit different, the last letters in our alphabet are Å, Ä, and Ö. The Danes and Norwegians uses different ways (like the crossed over O instead of Ö), but in general it's the same. So a Ö is not an O with umlauts, that makes no sense, it's similat to saying that "Them" is "They" with umlauts.

Gräddfil, which is what you use to make the dip, isn't really Sour Cream. It works but it's not exactly the same

In my family we have this dips on our hamburgers instead of dressing and dip our fries in it to. And of course with chips, carrots and cucumber 🤩

There is some black pepper in the Tyrkisk Peber but it's not that much so marketing it as "hot" is a bit of a misnomer. It's not hot as in chili-spicyness but rather they are fairly salty.

If you want your kids to eat more vegetables you can have a dip to go with it. :)

Fun fact. OLW was formed through a co-operation between Wasabröd and the American chip manufacturer Borden Foods in 1967. The name ‘OLW’ is an abbreviation for Old London Wasa, as Borden's factory in New York was called Old London. In 1975, the name was abandoned and the company was known simply as ‘OLW’ from that year onwards.

Weird fact - the Swedish word "kex" comes from the English word "cake(s)" which in turn comes from the Swedish word "kaka". Went all the way round there.

People with high blood pressure should not eat licorice. It also contains some ingredient which can make you ill if you eat a large amount. At least one woman had to go to the ER after eating too much licorice.

About marabou / daim. The choclate it self is quite basic/lower quality for us swedes, its just cheap, sugar chocolate, there is so much better chocolate in sweden than marabou.

Those dips are excellent for cooking. One of my personal favourites is to mix the dill dip in some heavy cream to make a sause for fish dishes. 😊

Perhaps a bit late, but try making shots out of the Turkisk Peppar. Just fill a bottle with (as whole as possible) Turkisk Peppar and fill up with vodka. Let it rest for a few days until all candy has been completely melted. Enjoy.

The maywests are good if you put them on a small plate and microwave them for 5 seconds. May need fork. But brings out the flavour. That works for most the snack cakes IMO.

Hello! I'm a Swede and loooove salty licoriche. BUT: you shouldn't really eat more than, let's say five or six pieces of it, as it's loaded with something called Glyrrhizine which affects your heart rate and makes it beat faster. And that is not good in the long run, so eat it sparsely!

@eibhinn
@eibhinn 10 месяцев назад
The way we do maple syrup on the snow in Canada is that you heat the syrup up and cook to "soft ball" stage from candy making. Then pour on the snow. Cooled down, it stops cooking and firms up to become a soft taffy texture. Then you roll it up on a stick and eat it. You don't actually eat the snow.

@@SaltyandSweetSnacksYes I love these games, I played the US versions of many of the good old SNES RPGs with a converter on my European SNES here in Sweden. Many of them were not even released over here, or just much later. Actually these types of games were how I really learned English because then I had to. Mom and I were playing with a dictionary in hand. When other teen guys were out getting drunk I was playing Breath of Fire, Lufia, FF and such games with Mom. 😂 Anyways I should stop going down memory lane and watch some of your other videos. Keep up the good work! 😎
